Anyone notice how these are shipping with USB-C power adapters and not MagSafe?
The online store says a USB-C to MagSafe 3 Cable (2 m) is included in the box. The USB-C adapter is just the brick the cable plugs into.

Was mulling the idea of ordering but the M1 Max prices are a bit insane, makes me fear for what something like an M1/M2 Mac Pro would be.. organ selling!

14-inch, 10c CPU/16c GPU, 16gb RAM, 1TB SSD arriving 26th. I was going to get silly and go Max, but I really don't need it. I'd have gone for 32gb RAM if it was cheaper, but an extra £400 was too steep and my current 16gb is plenty.

I don’t see a mention of MagSafe in the box?

They bloody better have it in there!

6 performance and 2 efficiency cores vs 8 performance and 2 efficiency.
And what’s that translated in day to day usuals? 😂 quite new to all this and wanted to see whether the extra GPU cores is worth the extra 300/400 quid for someone who does iMovie editing, photoshop usage and some football manager (when it’s released)

Spent ages messing around with education discount and gave up in the end. As such, I'm scheduled for delivery around 9th November. Boooooo.

16" M1 Max, 32GB, 1TB.

Apologies. I was referring to CPU cores as I assumed you meant those rather than the higher GPU core count. It’s one of the reasons I’ve stalled on my order. Going to wait on benchmarks relative the M1 etc as I was aiming for a base model but can hold out a few months.

Oh sorry, I actually meant CPU! Blame the iPhone correction features.

So I have never jumped on a Mac pre-order before. Have always done the iPhone religiously every year! I found the experience to be a bit of a shambles using the app, ended up ordering from the website instead.

14in Pro Space Grey, with a maxed out M1 Pro 10CPU/16GPU, 16Gb RAM and 512Gb Storage. Don’t see the need for more memory or storage when I have never really needed more than 8Gb for my workflows, and all of my Storage is cloud based… Gone were the days when I needed so much ram for virtualisation…

Looking forward to receiving it somewhere between the 27th Oct and 2nd Nov! Hoping Apple pulls one out the bag and it arrives a little earlier!

Right, I’ve just convinced myself to go for this model instead of the base 8 core CPU model.

When do we think the new MacBook Pro models will be available to order on 3rd party retailers? Anyone remember what it was like last year?

Maxed it out. Nice Xmas present for myself. First Mac and laptop in general since my late-2011 15” MacBook Pro which I sold in 2015.
I went a few a years of not purchasing any Apple products.
This year alone I’ve purchased AirPods Pro, Apple Watch 7 & now the MacBook Pro.

Well...

Got the education links sat in my email inbox, now to decide which one.

14 inch, base 8 CPU/14 CPU, 16GB RAM 1TB SSD or 14 inch, base 8 CPU/14 CPU, 32GB RAM 1TB SSD. £360 price difference.

My primary use case is photo editing. 16GB is perfect on my current Pro, but want to use this for many years to come. Is it easier to spend £360 now than have to get a whole new pro sooner than I want to in a few years. Any advice?
