I think we can finally put any niggling doubts to rest now. The UK (and Germany, France etc) release dates should be in line with the US. Good news.

I'm now almost certain of a UK launch 2-3 weeks after the U.S. launch. The fact that "Cook specifically confirmed that the Apple Watch will launch in Germany during the month of April" rather than "at the same time" says it all really...

You have a point there.

Probably not certain at all. There is nothing that truly suggest that it won't be launched at the same time as US. Tim is very good at how much info he gives out. Just about enough to make people talk and speculate, but not enough to spoil the surprise. Come back a week from this moment, right here, and tell me I was wrong.

I am hoping for a simultaneous worldwide release / initial roll-out. The more, the merrier, and maybe less attention solely on us. I am not one of those kind of fans, me first! :D

There is a big chance of April 3 release for us in the USA? I have to get it that week because I am traveling the week after that.

I reckon preorders Pril 3rd, shipping April 10th. No facts to base this upon, just guesswork given that it'll be practically one month after the launch event. If they planned to launch the first wave any later, surely they'd hold the event closer to the end of March?

Personally, I'm thinking it'll be a April 3rd launch, as the 10th might be too late and the momentum will be drawn out, if it doesn't come out too soon after the event so I think three weeks hits a sweet spot.

Ideally, what should happen is the event should happen, then about a week's press coverage from the event. Then, around a week before launch (late march), there is likely to be reviews (reviews a little earlier than with normal products) which will generate press coverage, and then more on the launch date.

Like you say though, this is based solely on guesswork.

Right. I'd hope not anyway, postal services would be a bitch.

This is reason enough to lay an April 3rd launch to rest. No deliveries of the shiny new watch, and no transport to get to the Apple Store if you want one and don't have a car. Basically shooting he selves in the foot.

Although it would be historic to launch exactly 5 years after ipad.

If the UK release date is later than the US release date, I will be rioting on the streets. I want this thing in time for my birthday at the end of April.

I reckon the pricing will be: Sport £329, Watch £479 + strap (leather £149, metal £199), Edition £infinite.

£329 would be quite a lot even with VAT and Apple tax. If it's $349 in the States, then I'd say it would be £299 maximum here, but probably £279 based on their iPad pricing.

I have no idea what the normal watch will cost, but I hope they don't go too crazy and it starts at around £400. I wouldn't be surprised if it was a lot more though.

If you're birthday is at the end of April, I'd say there's a fairly good chance you'll have it by then. I think it'll be an April realise for UK.

I disagree with your pricing though.

Sport: £279
Watch: £399

Straps will be

Sport Band: £29
Leather Band: £59
Steel: £149

I hope you're right. Then the combo I'm looking at (Watch + leather loop) would be £458, which isn't too far about my second choice (Sport) at £279. And I'll get it for my birthday :D

If you take it as the base model including a Sport band, with those prices a SS Watch with leather band would only come to £429.

One can dream...

I've set various prices in my head at what I'd pay, but since it's the first version I don't really want to shell out >£400. If I can get a modern buckle for that, I'd consider it over the Sport (which is what I'm planning on at the moment).

I would definitely not spend more than £600 all-in. I figure it's going to last two years. Your limit of £400 is sensible. For me the choice is black Sport, or regular Watch with leather loop. If the second option is a lot more than the first it will be difficult to justify, given that they're all basically the same watch.

The fact that they profiled it in the Financial Times and may have silently leaked pricing info for the Edition (neighborhood of $4,500) suggests that the UK will be in the initial launch party.

I'm thinking either the black Sport watch or the silver one with a white band if the others are too expensive. I was thinking of getting a leather loop (if I get a 42mm) or a link bracelet depending on price and how they look on the Sport. The leather loop should look fine as there isn't any metal on it.

Having said that, I have a Casio Edifice at the moment which I love, so I'm hoping for more killer apps being shown off on Monday to fully persuade me to part with my cash!
