I wouldn't buy anything from CPW.

Even if O2 were out of stock, I would rather wait than use CPW.

I got mine from cpw last July because it was the only place I could preorder the day before release, picked it up 11th July and that is the last time I have dealt with cpw, every correspondence since has been direct with O2.

It's not like the old days where all the customer service/billing etc was from cpw, now you can simply use them to buy the phone, and if you want you never have to contact them again.

You're an O2 customer at the end of the day, cpw is just sales.

Hi, my name is Carla H. Welcome to Apple!
...
There is no information available about that at this time.
...

As has been posted in other threads, it seems that the fine detail about upgrading in an AppleStore has yet to be sorted out!

But the link to the Uk Apple iphone retail webpage rushmere posted suggests that they can do upgrades in Applestore, and the Bullring store has told me (on two seperate occasions) that they can.

I will probably only find out for sure on Friday morning!

I'm still not sure whats going on or am i missing something?

I have a 2g thats run its course contract wise, am I going to be able to upgrade Friday and where?

how long did it take for your delivery confirmation to come through?
I ordered online and then updated some details over the phone. The guy I spoke to said delivery will be on Friday but I haven't had an email to confirm that yet.

thanks.

just had an email saying they'll send it as soon as they have some in stock. i assume that this is a stock email that they send for pre-orders.

I've had a personal reply from a member of the CPW customer services team saying that my iPhone 3GS will be delivered on Friday, but nothing official (in that it's automated).

I did have to ask CPW to confirm the order had been accepted, though!

Apple help said:
We learn about information when Apple makes formal public announcements, and not before. By withholding comment, Apple hopes to protect customers from making decisions based on information that is incomplete, inaccurate, or subject to change before the formal announcement. Apple believes this is the best way to ensure that all customers are treated fairly.
Makes sense.

Ditto I also have had no e-mail confirmation of delivery. You can use the cpw order tracking system at: https://www.mycarphonewarehouse.com/portal/servlet/gben-ordertrack-OrderTrack but it just keeps saying that they are 'out of stock' (!). I expect this to be updated tomorrow morning with an e-mail delivery notice shortly after, but I wouldn't be surprised if they slip on deliveries until Monday. City Link seem to be doing the deliveries.

thanks.

Yeah I got the same email. I think it's a generic no stock/pre-order type mail.

Mobiles.co.uk delivering tomorrow!

Just had a text to say it's despatched, rang them to confirm, and yes, will be getting my 3GS 32GB Black tomorrow at some point!

First post on forum so go easy on me!

False Alarm.. this is on their twitter:

"Processing blip - order went into wrong status. Panic ye not, there's significant quantities and warehouse elves are busy busy"

Just had confirmation from CPW that they received the phones last night - they are very busy fulfilling orders but there is no reason why anyone should not get this on Friday if they pre-ordered. However, a few might slip the net and be sent out tomorrow morning but it's doubtful as the web team are dealing with the orders exclusively.

has anyone pre ordered it on the website to be picked in in a CPW store?
Apparently CPW aren't offering store collections this Friday to keep the mad rush at manageable levels. That's what I was told on the phone even though the website allowed me to select a store.

I just got an email from O2 (not an existing customer) giving me login information to the O2 site.

Pre-Ordered using CPW

THE PLOT THICKENS

That's to be expected as it said when you ordered that billing was handled directly by O2. If you delve into your account you will see that it's charged as Zero and that you got the handset for free (in their eyes) no matter what tariff you're on.

What is odd though is the CPW tracking data. When I put my account order number in I get this:

3 - Dispatched

Your order has been dispatched. Your order should have arrived on Tue, 16 Jun 2009.

Your City Link Job No. for tracking purposes is:xxxxxx

However go to the link for tracking provided and City Link tells you that they have no such job.

Now that's a plot!

:)

I'm taking it though that I will be getting a handset Friday. If not I'll be bloody fuming as according to my new o2 account I will be billed from Friday (even though they have kindly already given me pro-rated minutes and messages for two days that I can not use.)

The reason why the tracking number doesn't work on Citylink's site is because the haven't scanned it yet. It may have been dispatched from CPW on it's way to a Citylink depot or CPW may have stuck a tracking sticker on the box and it's still in their wharehouse waiting for Citylink to pick it up.

Yea it's a TBA number I've just realised.

I'm just going to wait now - can't do anything other than that. But I love my itouch since I got it in February and I was not an apple fan before. Now I can't wait for my iPhone after having UIQ and Winmob smarties I want something that just works!
