Why would you care about telephone support? The 3 year hardware warranty is all that really matters.

Bought my rMBP via my uni WiFi last November; 15% off + 3 year warranty on my Haswell rMBP so I can't complain! Plus I'll always be able to buy this way as I have a friend who works at a university so I can just use their log in .

It's still the same as it was. I just bought another 13" MBP and the 3 year HE apple care was emailed (and mailed) shortly after.

Do you remember how long did it take exactly? I mean the period between getting the computer and the HE AppleCare. Was it like hours, days, weeks?

I bought my rMBP this Monday but still unsure what the coverage is.

Not hours or days.

I just got anotehr rMBP,a nd I dont expect to get the extended AppleCare in less than a month. The previous Mac took about 50 days for the email to arrive in my inbox.

I wouln't be concerend about it, I had a chat with Apple (online) just to confirm if the HE agreement is still inplace and the 3 year hardware warranty is free (and still there).

You have the Invoice as a proof of purchase + Edu discount to show that you are entitled to the free 3 year coverage.

The only reason I can see to upgrade to Apple Care from the 3 year warranty that is standard here in the UK with the HE deal is that Apple Care is international, the HE warranty is UK based only.

If you travel extensively or work abroad, it may well be worth the extra £48 to have an international warranty rather than a UK one.

That's a good point, *re-reads the extended warranty*. Doesn't say anything about UK specific, but I guess you're right. I've never usually away for more than two weeks at a time.
