My Apple Pencil arrived about an hour ago, I haven't been able to put it down since. Here are my impressions.

Overall the Pencill feels quality (as you would expect from Apple) it doesn't feel like a cheap plastic stylus, it fits very well in the hand and can easily be mistaken for a pen or pencil. I have used Procreate and tried Apple's Notes App, the Pencil is really great on both of these, no lag and just a joy to use.

Overall I do feel like the iPad Pro and Apple Pencil are made for each other, for example the big screen and the Pencil work so well, I don't think that it would be as good on a smaller screen (such as the iPad Air or iPhone). Do I think it's worth the asking price of £79..... YES. A thousand times YES, but I'm a creative type of person so it's something I will be using daily.

I can say that Apple have made a brilliant Pencil and a brilliant canvas in which to create, I also feel that the iPad Pro and Apple Pencil will replace my aging 2011 MacBook Pro, it can easily do things that I couldn't on a laptop and also the interaction is much better than it is on a laptop.

Apple have done it again, they made a brilliant product and a brilliant Pencil to go with it.

Something that I find curious re backorder times.

Why does it hit 4-5 weeks and then just not get any worse? It can only be one or both of two things:
  1. Demand falls because people don't want to wait that long.
  2. Capacity improves.
When the Watch came out there was the similar delay until "June" - but Cook has said multiple times that demand has only increased over time for the Watch.

So, is manufacturing just consistently a couple of months behind where it needs to be?

I think this is the most compelling case I've heard for delaying launches (though really not ideal for the Pencil with Christmas being around the corner).

I imagine it may be because a high proportion of current production is being allocated to first orders for other non-apple retailers so that they have some available for xmas. Once that is out of the way (in 4-5 weeks) then they can prioritise the apple online orders.

Good to see movement with the keyboards. Have any UK pencil orders shipped since early last week?
