EE 5G is bad in Watford to, even though we technically have had it for a while about a year now. Outside of the town centre it's pretty much useless. However it's hundreds of times better than any of the others. They are continuing to rollout new masks though. I'm sure it'll get better.

How long does it take for a number port to happen? I requested it on Saturday but I haven't heard a peep.

This is why I didn’t care when Android devices had 5G because I probably won’t be able to use it for the next 12 months anyway and then I’ll upgrade again.
i also find it a bit funny, Samsung, google etc all make phones and then another 5G variant, why? Barely any 5G to go around already so you're going to con people into buying different variants

Wanted to say a big thank you to all the people who have contributed to this thread, It's been really useful for an old fart in his 70s who's returning from the dark side after a journey of many years. iPhone 4 to iPhone 6s then to SonyEricson.
A diversion into the world of Samsung with the S7 followed by my current Honor View 20.

I've ordered the 12 Pro in Blue which should arrive on Friday.
In the meantime I've dug out my old 6s and have been reaquainting myself with the world of IOS. I've been following this discussion and have ordered and received screen protectors from LK, a Ringke Onyx case from a helpful link from another poster on this forum and also a Wallet case from Ocase. ( I know it covers the screen but I've got used to having my Bank cards and travel pass in the C/Card slots )

The LK screen protectors came with a protector for the camera lens but my instincts tell me that fitting one might degrade the optics as it's an extra reflective surface in front of the lens.
I ordered ( and cancelled ) the Apple magnetic charger as I wasn't sure if the charger would stay attached when the phone is taken off charge. ( I have a nice wood effect platform wireless charging stand that I used on my S7, it was easy just to plonk it on the stand and let it charge when at my computer desk )

Current plan is with Plusnet Mobile, 4 Gig for £7 per month on a rolling one month contract. No 5G yet where I live.
Really looking forward to Friday and hope the swap over from my View 20 is as painless as possible.
So thanks again folks, a great forum!

Yeah this thread is what gets people excited for iPhones releases. going to be fun seeing people get their phones on friday while the rest of us has to wait for a few more weeks for the pro max or mini.

Regarding reception and masts... I used to look at mastdata.com.
But it’s gone subscription only.
Any alternatives that map or list masts in your area?

Hi everyone! So I had a bit of a nightmare preordering my phone on Friday. The apple store app kept on throwing up errors, so I didn't get the order in until about half 1, so i've got the blue 128 Iphone 12 Pro coming between November 2nd and November 9th. I wonder who Apple use for their express deliveries? Excited for you all to be getting your phones on Friday!

Ditto! Did you get the email from Apple asking you to rate your 'purchase experience'?!

So, when do we think these will start going to 'shipped'? Tomorrow? Wednesday? What was it with watch again this year? I know we had a mix or UPS and DHL mostly all delivered when they said they would... but can't remember transport times from China.

So those on Three - do you need to a “5G sim“ or, as their website suggests, should any any existing 3 sim work ? There’s some reference to an automatic software update (carrier settings update ?) only.
I’ve been with them for a few years so my sim is old.

Most phones are likely already in the UK so will ship thursday night.

2 working days.
porting doesn't happen on weekends. It will usually go in on the Monday for porting on Tuesday.

Thanks!

The 4G sim should be fine, however i'd say give it a few weeks and pop into a 3 store, and just see if they can do a sim swap as that will be 5G ready anyway

E sims have been around for a while. Why are networks so slow at implementing them (with the exception of EE)?
