I have wanted to do it for years, back in the good old days when we had to queue up overnight with no idea if we’d get one or not... slightly dampened by this collect in store lark.

One day I will, didn’t get my pre-order in while I was fence sitting though so another time!
Yeah i miss those days the excitement of it. I was lucky enough to get a collect window of 8am on Friday

I hope we still have plenty of people around for the pro max orders. Don’t leave after the pro and 12 arrive 😂

I'll still be here.

It is genuinely a full time job keeping up with this thread.
200+ pages and no one even has a phone yet. Biblical.
Wonder if things will be calmer for the Pro Max launch

I'm hoping it'll be quieter, as that might be representative of how many are going to go for the Pro Max and thus stock levels.

If you check out the video from Uravgconsumer he seems to be able to get it in and out of his pocket without it falling off.

Yeah his video seems a lot more positive with how strongly it was staying affixed, I tend to notice reviewers go out of their way sometimes to break/find problems with things that you won’t experience in 95% of cases.

I’ll probably pick one up and see how it is, definitely would like one to hold my IDs.

That looks good about rebuy, thanks for that! I will sort that out in the morning! I'll be interested to see how those of you on Ee get on with 5G. The coverage checker says I should get good coverage outdoors, so we'll see. Also, now that we have 5G, I wonder if these phones will be able to download the software updates over it or whether we still have to connect to wifi? I've heard on android you can do it on data, but i'm not sure.

I’m a long-time lurker to this forum and only come round every year or two when a new iPhone comes out. 😂

Anyway I’m going from an XS Max to an iPhone 12 Pro 128GB in silver. I’m confused, however, since I’ve reserved it to pick up at my local apple store and it’s saying it’ll arrive by 10th November? I haven’t been on top of the news this year and I thought that was the release date for the new phones. After looking around it seems that is not the case. Did I get unlucky? I reserved the phone literally minutes after 1:00pm on Friday! 😭

Interesting to see the availability of the 12 and 12Pro popping up occasionally on the Apple Website for collection at stores. Some People must be cancelling their orders for them to appear.

I have it in my head we were told, but is it still the case that it is 100% pointless to turn up on launch days now? Shame...

I’ve checked it more times than I can count today... for an allusive 256 GB Silver in Bluewater!

Out of interest is there a reason to go for AppleCare+ over mobile insurance? From what I can see the prices come in similar/cheaper (albeit slightly more on the excess for insurance for screen damage) plus you’re covered for loss/theft as well!

Personally I've never lost/had a phone stolen but I have dropped and smashed a fair few. I have used express replacement twice now which is where Apple ship you a new device next day delivery and you return the broken one. I hear too many horror stories about insurers taking ages to replace/fix phones, using third party parts etc.

The wallet looks like it's very easy to push off when just attached directly to the smooth back of the phone, but with a silicone case it gets enough extra lateral grip that it can survive the pocket insertion/removal.

Mobile insurance is usually done via the lowest bidder, so you can have a really terrible experience and a full week without a phone.

Apple care is (when not in a pandemic) just a case of walking into a store and walking out with a replacement, or picking up a repaired phone a few hours later.

What’s everyone doing to protect their iPhone 12 screens?

Belkin‘s tempered glass from Apple are an extortionate £24.95 (which I am loathe to pay!) - similar ones on Amazon can be had for under £10!
I've ordered spigen ones (2 pack) but they won't arrive till next week so to get me by another kind fellow here linked a another cheap one to one of my posts which is actually a pack of 3 and a bonus was a camera lense protector too!

I've got a bit of a story behind this pack too lol

Re Rebuy may be worth checking this comparison site out also. I used it and it flagged up Rebuy as best, But they appear to have dropped their prices now.

Never used a screen protector and haven’t had a problem (and have dropped my iPhones too many times than I’d like to admit 😂)

Be interesting to see the toughness of this new glass though

Not sure if someone posted this video yet, has all the colours of 12 and 12 pro

I normally go with the “new” colour each year to keep things fresh so planning on pacific blue, I think the XS Gold was so lovely so having second thoughts, I didn’t think it would but it was great. The midnight green has been okay but definitely not a “wow” colour. Not used a case or screen protector since the 7 and have been fine so far.
