Hmm.

My 12 Pro shows as being connected to our home wifi (in Settings), but the Home Screen shows 4G, no Wi-Fi symbol.

[Edit] - 1.1.1.1 VPN app was causing the issue.

Are people on the iUP setting up their new iPhone in store or setting up at home after handing back their old device?

I would prefer to get it home and set it up there from my iCloud backup.

Restored from iCloud backup when I got back home for my new 12 Pro on IUP. The Apple store guy did offer to go through starting the setup/restoration process with me, but the impression I got was that the bulk of the restoration and redownloading apps and cloud content (photos, music etc) would need to be done away from the store.

I was at a store in a Tier 3 area - those stores in lower Tier areas and/or with more space might be able to accommodate in-store setup/restoration.

Just off the phone with EE having upgraded my plan to SIM-only 5G in anticipation - 200gb for £23/month. Cancelled my iPad sim and will live on tether at least while we're in partial lockdown.

Phone is only an hour away apparently! I didn't care about new phones last year and thought I had shaken the upgrade habit, but this year has been pretty weird and the treat feels meaningful...

I think they will allow you to put the sim in and take it out the box. As I was asked but said I was going to leave it in the box. They did give me a little envelope I could put my sim in so I didn't lose it. Then just set it up when I got home. But they may not want you to wait around for the restore to take place due to limited space inside for customers.
