Phone to phone transfer is as good as an encrypted backup from iTunes, you’ll only have to set up banking apps again.

When you say 'phone to phone transfer' do you mean "quick start" (holding the iphones close together) or the wired version using Lightning to USB 3 Camera Adaptor and Lightning to USB Cable....?
I'd be looking to transfer my health data too as there is an apple watch involved.

Trying to work out if the wired migration is as good as an encrypted iTunes back up (I've been having trouble updating ios via itunes/windows 10 recently so that option may not be open to me!)

Thanks!

Has anyone scheduled a pickup from UPS?

I put in an address for pickup but the label shows my billing address which is different.

Does anyone know if they will pick up from diff address to billing?

Wireless quick start and then choose the wireless transfer, it will even offer to move your watch across.

Question about transferring from one’s current iPhone to the new one. I have the 11 Pro Max. Which is the best option to restore all your user names and passwords. Is it restoring from a backup in iTunes. restoring from iCloud or doing a direct phone to phone transfer. I want to try and avoid re-entering all my user names and passwords if I can.

You just hold the new phone next to the old one and it picks it up and asks if you want to restore from there. Dead easy.

If you do the iPhone to iPhone transfer thing (when you bring both phones close together), it transfers everything over, right down to positions of apps on home screens and shortcuts you may have created. This is probably THE quickest way (takes about 15 minutes) to transfer everything.

As a side note - if you have an Apple Watch, you’ll first have to unpaid it from your old phone and then repair it to the new phone as the transfer doesn’t transfer Apple Watch stuff over (you can’t pair your watch to more than one iPhone at the same time).

Thanks for the replies. I know I did a phone to phone transfer last year but I couldn’t remember what transferred over. I think that’s the easiest and simplest method as I don’t want to do a fresh install anyway. Both phones have the same storage capacity so it should be fine. I’ll just have to redo my banking apps hopefully which is a pain but I’m sure I’ll be fine.

Series S for me on Tuesday (only gonna use it as a Game Pass machine in all likelihood), Pro Max on Friday and PS5 on the 19th. About the only good thing to happen this year is having a bit more disposable income

I love the physical size of the Series S but it has less storage capacity then the Series X which itself does not have a lot. Plus the Series S does not do 4K only 1440p or 2K. Plus the expanded Seagate storage is way too expensive so I guess for now I’ll have to better manage the internal storage and not keep anything I’m not using.

My Apple Watch paired fine with iPhone to iPhone transfer. It asks if you want to use your Apple Watch with the new phone. I said yes. It then does all the background work got you (unpairing etc)

Pre ordered 12 pro max graphite 128 gb just minutes after 13:00 on Friday and its showing processing with an estimated time to deliver on 30th November, hope they change date of delivery once they prepare to ship

Does the sync with iCloud restore all your apps?
There are two different things

1. Sync with iCloud - This won't restore your apps (you will need to re-download from the purchase tab), only your settings and some data such as safari passwords, notes will carry over, etc. Best suitable if you have more then one apple device e.g I have multiple iPads with different apps but the iCloud data syncs between all of them.

2. Restore from iCloud - This is a clone of your existing device and will duplicate almost everything including Apps but not apple pay to your new device. -Best suitable for upgrading from old Apple device to new Apple device

There is an article on iMore that goes into it in more details

What’s the process for exchanging a Barclays loan device for a different colour? Ordered PB but I’m liking the graphite more. Not keen on an extra credit check etc.

Has anyone had any luck with tracking their pro max, like the US lot on the other thread?

We can’t as theirs are probably coming directly from China and shipped directly to them via UPS. The U.K. delivery stock is most likely already in the U.K. and with Apple’s distribution partner Syncreon. Syncreon will probably pass them onto Apple’s courier partners on Wednesday or Thursday and when they are in their systems we’ll be able to track them. There was a time years ago when our preorders came directly from China but not anymore.

I’m not worried as the same happened to me last year.
Mine is showing on tracking now. Placed order over the phone around 1:25pm on Friday. No email but got text with tracking link and order number.
