Couple of e-sim questions from me:

Do they work exactly the same as a real sim once activated? Can you travel abroad etc roaming all the same? All features like wifi calling and visual voicemail work too?

And secondly, if you order a e-sim for the first time, do they have to post you a pack? or can you do the download? Trying to figure out how best to use e-sim for the new phone.. I guess it's not worth activating on my current 11 as I'd have to pay another 50p to move it on Friday to the 13?
Exactly the same. You can do a Sim swap on EE app just make sure you have both phones on. I have multiple esims, when abroad I switch off personal eSim, and use data from other networks whilst abroad. Business sim is always physical, if phone ever fails I can switch phones easily.

Is anyone interested in 5G at all?
I wouldn’t normally care, but for some bizarre reason, i get 400-700Mbps around where i live with EE (tested on a 12 Pro).

Does anyone know what time iOS 15 will come out today? Is it usually later in the day?
Don;t be shocked with iOS15..... its iOS 14 with a little bit extra. Focus is good. Safari takes a bit of getting used to, the rest is a nice bit of paint work.

Those who have been using Apple Silicon cases with previous phones - how do they hold up??

I want to get a Magsafe silicon case (usually just get cheap clear cases from Amazon) but I've read they are dust magnets?
Also sliding in and out of pockets is more difficult since they are quite grippy??

Had this one for nearly 2 years. They do go smooth and shiny in the high contact spots.

I don't know why EE did not implement Quick Start Setup for moving the eSIM to a new phone :
https://support.apple.com/en-gb/HT210655 . They are the preferred Apple operator in UK.
For some reason they are insistent on 1 time eSIM activation. They probably haven't changed the backed eSIM config since Apple launhced it with EE as a launch partner however, now that you can download and activate in under 5 mins its not really a biggie.

agreed! Always fancied it but was unsure of the process.

I wonder what the process is if you don’t have your phone like that? Are you stuffed. What if you’ve had it replaced under warranty and you forget it’s an ESim. (Something I’d do) 😂
Ring EE to activate the SIM card just like you would have to with a replacement physical SIM.

If I lived in a an area with that I would be ditching my broadband and move on to mobile broadband!

I would too, but i have gigabit internet (sorry…). I think I am being compensated for having 1-2Mbps in second year of uni. That was hell. Had to open youtube videos, let them buffer at 360p for 10-15mins, then watch them.

Well, I kinda accidentally got an e-sim. I thought it would require more clicks, but after clicking replacement e-sim it just said it was ready for download...

I guess I could wait and download that on the new phone directly from the EE app?

I normally get my iPhone from EE but this year I decided to get it direct from Apple - I spent about an hour and a half trying to get the order to go through at 1 pm - during which time my order slipped to 4th - 11th October.

Based on previous experiences of pre-ordering, has anyone seen their phone come earlier than a delivery date like mine in the past for launch phones (and if so, how much earlier)? Thanks

You can still get stock for collection on launch day in most stores (nearly all in London for example). If you were close by, and model dependant, just reserve and pick up
