Old news by now but picked up my 13 Pro Max at the Apple Store in the Sheffield Meadowhall this afternoon. Met up with some of my work friends I hadn’t seen since lockdown started last year afterwards. Was planning on setting up once I got home, but impatience got the better of me and I tethered the new phone to my old one and did the direct device transfer whilst we were in the pub and then swapped the SIM card over once that was done.

Ended up sticking with a the Wisteria case I’d ordered, not as light as I thought it’d be and definitely a nice shade of purple. Hadn’t realised the screen was bigger than my 11 Pro Max. Liking it the extra heft and the straight edges feel better than the rounded ones on the 11.

Bit off topic but after a general gander around the rest of this forum (broadening my horizons with different topics), I highly wish there was an eyeroll reaction that could be used for posts. I believe it could be my most used reaction.

From the outside looking in 😁, hope the ones who received the new phones are enjoying it (I still have over 50 pages to catch up 😒)

Finally got my upgrade with the NHS Perks discount sorted out on Tuesday (Sept 21) and with the current issues with EE, it might be a few weeks before I get my hands on the iPhone 13 Pro Max 256 GB silver handset (I really hope I will get it before Oct 8 as EE has already set that as the deadline on when need to receive the old phone). My backup from Apple will be available for pickup tomorrow at 4:45 but I will cancel it so the brum store will have a spare pro max 256GB silver phone 😁.

Soo finally opened the box and stuck on the armorite. A doddle to fit and doing it straight out the box on the phone minimised dust etc. Impress with the protector as everyone has been saying. Did have a tiny air bubble 3/4 of the way down but managed to just lift the bottom of the protector up and it went away.

The protector itself is great, don’t see the black border at all. Much closer fit to the edge compared to the belkin one apple installed on my 12. The full coverage is great!

Only had night time viewing of the Sierra blue but wow.. it’s beautiful! Even in the artificial light it looks grey/blue. Can’t wait to see it in the daylight!

Not booted her up yet, that’s next. Some photos below.

Looks forward to proMotion now!!

(I did let my son unbox it… well rip the seals and have a look at the colour! No peeling the paper screen cover off for him! )

Need that macro mode on the 12 to get decent close ups!

Before that, got the phone all set up now. Firstly im very happy with my colour choices!

The Gold I think is more pale this year, I actually had to double look it thinking it was actually a silver phone they'd sent me. It's subtle but very, very nice. And goes absolutely perfect with the Sequoia Green leather Apple case. (Cant get a photo as obviously im now using the phone 😅)

I opened the phone and immediately put the ESR Amorite screen protector on before I even touched the screen, annoying how all you do is unpeel the protector itself from the plastic its attached to and somehow dust from the sticky side facing down immediately somehow gets stuck to it!?
Anyway thats on the phone and isn't noticeable at all. First screen protector ive ever used and im very impressed (I still swear by not needing them but hey ho)

Now lets be honest, the phone itself is absolutely no different from the 12 Pro and if you wanted to go further even the 11 Pro.

However, the new 120hz screen is actually noticeable which is nice, its not something you need, but now ive seen it in person it is nice to have. I've not played around on an iPad Pro so this is my first time sort of actually taking note of the higher screen refresh rate.

As for the camera I posted earlier im never bothered about the minimal camera upgrades as to the naked eye they're not any different. However, ive seen other peoples photos they've taken with the Macro Mode and thats caught my eye, looking forward to taking many random photos of pointless stuff close up just to see how it looks!

Now time to have a full play with iOS15, managed to avoid installing it on my burner phone

Overall, I wouldn't spend £949 on the phone outright coming from a 12 Pro - However selling my 12 Pro for £630 meaning the 13 Pro cost me around £300 isn't SO bad.

I've mainly bought this phone so when it comes to selling next year I again can buy the new phone for around £300ish

Looking forward to the iPhone 14 now which hopefully is like the rumours!

No different from the 11 Pro?! I beg to differ! My 11 Pro is nowhere near as fast as my 13 Pro

On the screen protector front was going to get one done in store but they'd sold out. Went onto Amazon to order the ESR Armorite considering all the positive reviews on here, but showed as Wednesday for delivery so I've gone for the Spigen Allignmaster instead as that will be delivered tomorrow.
 
Almost 6 hours of screen on time with at least 2.5 hours of that on Google maps and wireless CarPlay. Not bad at all. Literally got me through a very busy day. I think without heavy GPS etc. use I’d probably have plenty of battery right now.

So weird one has anyone got the pro max with the apple clear case notice a slight clicking when typing? It seems the case must not be 100% perfect, it looks it but when I’m typing hear what I guess is the case tapping against the phone at the bottom.
 
Having a bit of a mare moving WhatsApp to the 13. Annoyingly when restoring my account on the new phone it says it can’t find my iCloud backup!! Even though it’s there and I can see in in settings. Back on the 12 for now and play tomorrow or might have to do a transfer rather than start afresh if it doesn’t work :(

No, AppleCare doesn’t cover cosmetic damage. I use a screen protector, so no risk of scratches on the front. The stainless steel sides hold up very well and I’ve also had no scratches on the back glass before either. I do put the phone in a shock sock when in my pocket though so it doesn’t get scratched by anything that may be in there.

Sorry I’ve been busy the past few days. I set up my new iPhone 13 Pro on Friday night using the quick start option with direct phone to phone transfer. Only took about 10 mins and it transferred over my Apple Watch without any issues. I used the same method last year.

I fitted my ESR Armorite screen protector. It had an annoying tiny bubble that disappeared an hour or so later and it’s now perfect. The one thing I like over the original ESR tempered glass screen protector is the lack of light leakage on the edges. The black edge means you don’t see the glass screen protector light up when viewed edge on. Not a huge issue but i always noticed it when the phone was flat on my bedside table.

I have also sent my old iPhone 12 Pro to Argos for a trade in. I let you know it goes.

The black bordered tempered glass that go all the way to the edges are also my favorite. Some of them also have the edges slightly beveled, I think they’re called 2.5D edges especially nice for those that like to go nekid.

The display is amazing coming from an iPhone 12. I haven’t fully tested the camera but will on my next day off! I’m totally loving the bigger screen - at first I thought it was too big and heavy but now I really like it. My 12 feels tiny in comparison!

Cheers for the tip. I hadn’t realised iUp stock would be different to the main page. Does the stock update regularly throughout the day or is there a particular time when Apple in-store stock refreshes?

How do you access this iup stock? Can it be done in the normal
Apple store app?
