Anyone having trouble selecting smart kiosk for the 13? It doesn't show but if I try and sell a 12 it come up.

Anybody know if you save the MM quote to your account if that locks in the price or does that price quoted drop unless you actually proceed with the order?

If so, theoretically you’d get 14 days to save that quote and then another 21 days to send it in.

That’s a very good question.

I’ve just made an account with MM and added iPhone in. Saved it in selling basket and it says 13 days left, how do you get 21 days saved?

When you go through checkout you will then be given 21 days to submit the phone.

Let us know whether they stick to the valuation at that point.

Was gonna answer these points above but seems the answer is here below 👇🏽

You only get 21 days once you submit a selling order

If I recall from previous orders, when you submit the order, the price quoted gets locked in for 14 days.

If you then do nothing for 10 days or so (i.e. don't send in your phone), they send you an email to say they'll extend the quote for a further 7 days (so 21 days in total).

i've just been quoted 535 quid for my iphone 12 pro 256gb which is pretty good imo

but if its only another minor update and nothing about the new iphone appeals i'll keep my 12 pro for another year.

I am looking at getting the new apple watch pro or the standard one if its as good as rumours suggest

i'd also be interested in updating my apple airpod pro which still work well i use them almost everyday so a good spec boost would get me to buy those too.

Can't believe (but not surprised...) I am here again. I did some maths this morning if it will be 'worth it' for me to upgrade, and am actually surprised by the numbers. Can someone look through these and if it makes sense?

My situation is I am almost 100% sure I will buy the iPhone 15, for the rumoured 10x telephoto camera or USB-C alone. Have a 13 Pro 256GB. So I thought I would easily skip the 14, but running the numbers of what I should do in the next year:

If I keep my 13 Pro, then buy 15 Pro
price = £1100
AppleCare: £9.50 * 24 (I pay monthly) = £228
total cost = £1328
estimated sale price in Sept 2023 (going by 12 Pro price right now) = £540
ownership cost over 2 years = (total cost - sale) = £776

If I sell my 13 Pro, then buy 14 Pro then buy 15 Pro
price = £1100 (13 Pro) + £1100 (14 Pro)
AppleCare: £9.50 * 24 (I pay monthly) = £228 - assuming no change in AppleCare prices
total cost = £2428

iPhone 13 pro sale price = £725 (locked in MM)
iPhone 14 pro sale price = estimated £725

ownership cost over 2 years = 2428 - 725 - 725 = £978

Difference between owning 14 Pro for a year or not = £978 - £776 = £202 over 2 years

If my maths is correct, this makes it hard not to upgrade to the 14 Pro, even if it is a minor upgrade. My intuition had me 'saving' something like £300-500 by skipping the 14 Pro.

Has anyone tried the MM kiosks to drop their phone off at?
A couple of point from my experience last year (might have changed for this).
- You can't use a code with a sale via the smart kiosk for some reason. so you have to leave say 'PHONETEN' off to get the kiosk as an option
- Evn though the kiosk will make the decision for you there and then and payout, for some reason you still need to allow time for it to get picked up and get delivered to them within the time window. this looks like it must be at least 3 days. last year i had until Tuesday whatever it was to get my phone to them and then went to a kiosk the Sunday before that only for the machine to re-quote me rather than what id locked in at. Following up with their support team it was apparently because it wouldn't have got from the kiosk to them in time. they wouldn't confirm exactly what lead time it was though.

Back again for another year!

Debating using MM this year rather than selling private, what are peoples experience like with them? What happens if the phone goes missing in the post?

Think i might just sell private to not risk the phone being lost in the post

I've never know things to get lost with MM.

I recently sent them an Xbox One X and a PS4 Pro in the same package/order, and it arrived safety and they paid out the full amount they quoted me at the time.

:)

From the MM T&Cs

When you send your Item using any of the Delivery Services detailed in these Terms and Conditions, your Item will be insured up to the amount of the Valuation for that Item. This means that once your Package has been accepted at the Hermes ParcelShop, your local Post Office, an ASDA to you location, or by a third party courier, the Items included in the Package are insured up to the value of the Valuation provided by us.

Here we go again!

I’ve locked in my Music Magpie price. How long will they hold it for??

14 days is the usual time but they'll send you an email towards the end of that period, offering to extend it for a further 7 days (so you'll get 21 in total).

This is how I remember their services when I previously used them.

I don’t know whether the system has changed since your experience last year but I was able to get the additional £10 when I got my valuation locked in for 21 days and I’ve been given a QR Code specifically for use with SMARTDrop.

Also this: My understanding from MM is that once the SMARTDrop kiosk has ‘examined’ your phone, run a few checks, and accepted the stated condition the transaction is finalised and payment made immediately. If this is the case I cannot see that there is a requirement for there to be a period of 2 or 3 days for the phone to get to them.

I may call them to confirm.

Q- i've received an Apple Store gift card, can I redeem this to my account before pre-orders go live to use towards my order or do i need to redeem it whilst processing the pre-order? I don't think i've ever used a gift card in conjunction with a preorder before
