iPhone 3G was my first too! Back when it was exclusive to O2, so I got the phone from an O2 shop. Albeit this was a month or so after launch.

iPhone 4 is definitely my most memorable launch. I reserved and still had to queue for 3 hours outside the Glasgow Buchanan Street store. It was a great atmosphere though and the iPhone 4 was a massive step change at the time.

I then had every 2nd generation till the 7, and I’ve been here every year since. Hands down this year was the worst for pre-ordering, from my point of view. I’ve always got launch day.
Did you not get launch day this year?

I like the comment on this twitter post stating that they'll change the box back to black next year so people will all upgrade!

Anyone reckon new AirPods Pro’s will be instore on Friday? Plus just noticed I’ve had this account since 2008 👀
Not this Friday given they aren't out until 23/9

Thank God they don’t use RM for iPhone on launch day… 🙄
My macbook case due for delivery tomorrow is out for delivery today (despite message yesterday warning it could be depaed) - handy though as not working from home tomorrow.

I have been out of the pre-order loop for half a decade; have things changed much since the X came out, in particular does anyone have any recollection of how well/badly EE did last time round with the 13?

Over the years I have ordered through carriers, direct from Apple online, queued up at the store on the day, and bought from third parties like Very, but it has been a while. Did EE c*ck things up last year?

EE and the iPhone 13 launch were terribly bad, orders being delayed, lack of communication, ordered being confirmed for delivery with a date then the tracker rolling back to awaiting confirmation etc and the date being removed.

EE Exec office giving out figures like 1000 phones due in stock tomorrow then someone else in Exec office saying it is lies and they have no information and to just wait etc.

The 12 before that was fine iirc

When they get it right they are amazing, when they get it wrong they are amazingly bad.

I think I am set for Friday.

1. Pre-ordered iPhone and justified reason for upgrading using man logic and sweet talk to partner
2. Belkin Wireless Pro charger
3. Magsafe Case
4. Full coverage screen protectors
5. Brought daughter a pristine iPhone 11 to keep her happy too.

Putting my bank cards away now for at least a week!.

iPhone 13 was bad, mainly because EE's systems went down right as the pre-order went live. I was very lucky and got mine through. Many many others had a nightmare.

No issues this year, called up at 12:55, got through in about a minute, the guy let me chat to him for the few minutes before it hit 1pm.

I had12 Pro, 13 Pro and ordered 14 Pro with EE.

12 and 13 ordered online and was given xko reference and it arrived on release day. This year I also ordered online however, once I received the email I could still place another upgrade. So I rung CSR around 1:30pm and they manually placed the order and i've been tole delivery on 16/09.

Lets see what happens, I have faith because it seems EE have stock of all models apart from the Pro Max models and I ordered Gold 14 Pro 255GB. I doubt its that popular.

I think most of the big reviewers have either resorted to click bait headlines or kissing apples ass. I don’t blame Justine at all, she’s hugely successful, probably filthy rich and living her best life.

I just think that after a few videos I was sick of the gushing over a box and the cellophane. You also know you’ve no chance of legit reviews because if they did they’d lose access to what they have got now.
I've not been watching iPhone reviews for long but watched a lot when deciding if I should switch from Android and Pro vs PM.

My god its full of such clickbait I cannot wait to be done with it post the 14 pro reviews tomorrow!

5 Reasons you SHOULD buy the new iPhone
1 day later ..
5 Reasons you SHOULDNT buy the new iPhone
Conclusion at end of each video "its up to you and your use cases"

Thanks for answering; this is the kind of answer I wanted.

This year I am going to try and break my upgrade cycle which is 1 year iPhone then 1 year Android, never upgraded from one iPhone to the next but

To add to this

1. Why I am returning my iPhone
2. Thumbnail of them with their hands over their face for no reason

Anyone know how I can back up just my photos and then set my iPhone up as new and only restore photos? (In the interest of ‘setting up new’) I have like 12k photos.

Ideally not using iTunes!!

Whats your plan? are you going to try get one on launch day?

I’ve got an order with Apple which is currently due 3-10 October, and one with Amazon that I’m expecting to arrive on Friday but not overly confident. Once one of them becomes more certain I’ll cancel the other.

My MM offer on my current phone is my time limiting factor more than being desperate for the new one.

Let’s be real though...all the videos with click bait titles are probably right. For the vast majority of the general population there probably will be little point upgrading from a 12 Pro/Pro Max or 13 Pro/Pro Max unless they are going up/down in screen size for portability/watching content or if the space isn’t sufficient.
One thing I haven't been a fan of is the weight increases:

The 12 Pro feels really light, but at least the difference between the 13 and 14 Pros isn't huge.

Exactly! I like that her channel is just pure joy and excitement. It's definitely a bit over the top at times, but I'd rather enjoy her enthusiasm than yet another clickbait negativity-focused video with titles such as:
  • "The TRUTH about iPhone 14"
  • "Watch this BEFORE you buy!"
  • "10 problems with the iPhone 14"
  • "Why I'm NOT buying the iPhone 14 Pro"
  • "Skip the iPhone 14, it's all about 2023!"
  • "The iPhone 14 is a DISAPPOINTMENT"
It drives me mad! 😡 I understand why YouTubers resort to this rubbish, but I still hate it. Don't forget the cringey facepalm thumbnails...

Even worse are the ones who have clearly fake iPhones (immediately after the event), or even what is clearly an upside-down 13 Pro Max with a badly cropped screenshot/mock-up of a 14 Pro Max... 🙄 Sadly, that seems to fool thousands of people with not a single comment calling it out.

The complete worse ones are the camera comparison videos when the phone isn't even released... foreign channels clearly just using a different phone for clickbait views... drives me mad as the comments are then filled with complaints or mocking about the camera quality that's not even legit.
