The XR is alive again…..

In other news, used my AirPod Pro 2s for the first time in earnest this morning on a dog walk.

Life changing

Maybe not, but I am impressed. The ANC is so much better and I love the volume. Sound is better too. Those on the fence, just do it.
Wholeheartedly agree, the APP2 are on a different level - I've used mine every day since last Saturday outdoors and the detail in the sound is still making me smile when listening to my Spotify TimeCapsule playlist (80's & 90's)

Talking of 80s music (and late 70s) , my 'go to' tracks to check sound quality are Dire Straits 'Your Latest Trick' and the Eagles 'Hotel California'

My work is done.

My US based daughter who has always said AW are a waste of money etc, has now purchased an AW8 and as she is in the US she ordered just now and will be delivered to her by 8pm US time tonight.

If I can get her to buy an AW, anything is possible today

I might realise I'm perfectly OK with the Xr? 🤣
I do wonder whether to cancel my order for a 14 Pro Max and stick with my 12 Pro 🤔

I’d like the bigger screen and better battery and the improved camera though. Delivery is not due until around 21st Oct, so still time to cancel.

All this talk of switching make me wonder, how many times will Apple let you switch phones every 14 days?
Hypothetically... could you switch every 14 days and basically never pay for a phone because at the end of a year you'd get a full refund? 🤣

**Just to be clear I am joking, if everyone did this Apple would soon get wise and almost certainly pull the 14 day 'trial' they currently offer.

Given all the switching phones, I also wonder if people ever feel ‘guilty’ for doing so or do you just feel it’s part of your consumer rights? Every open box phone return will ultimately cost apple money as they can’t sell it straight away as new again. Sure it’s not like apple are short of money but I expect we all end up paying for all the returns in the end through how high the prices are

People in this thread must be why the phones are £150 more this year. 🤣 🤦‍♂️

The increased costs have nothing to do with that. Apple can sell these handsets again and will. They don’t just destroy them. And if they state within their policy 14 days to do so then of course people will take this opportunity. It’s an investment so people want to make sure they’re getting the right thing.

These will either be used for replacements or put back in as Grade A.
One thing Apple don't really have are replacements this early on so assume these would get brown boxed and used for that. Saves a brand new phone being used up for a swap out.
As far as I know they get a new serial number whether used as a refurb or a replacement. But that may have changed since the serial numbers don't have any obvious meaning anymore.

Do I feel guilty? - kinda but then no. I feel more guilty for those who are still waiting for a device when I am on my 4th. However like someone said above when you are paying so much for a device you want the right one.

Do I feel guilty when ultimately giving the £1.2k for a phone - no!! You wouldn't buy a car without test driving.....

I also doubt in the grand scheme of things it makes any tangible difference to those waiting.

I’ve never returned an iPhone, but would if I wanted to. All businesses of Apple’s scale will factor in returns for faults, defects, and even ‘change of mind’ returns with every product launch.

I’m guessing people switching from Pro to ProMax does have an impact, but when they can sell them again as ‘refurbished’ at still a massive margin, it will barely touch their profits.

If I was returning or swapping one of the 7 million iPhones sold each year to a company worth $2.4 trillion, I personally wouldn’t feel any guilt
