Pre order will be Friday. They won’t change that. They already have strain on the servers right after the event with release candidates of software being available. Also if preorders go live immediately after event it will make it difficult for the likes of people at the event to preorder. They don’t all get pre release devices to take home with them! Suppose Apple could give them a special link!

They already open pre orders for Apple Watch straight after the event so not sure why it would be any different for iPhone soon.

Because the Apple Watch doesn’t garner as much attention or demand as the iPhone. Especially with such iterative changes. I doubt there will be a huge influx for the watch. Quite easy to handle. Same as when they launch iPads and MacBooks these days.

Just seen I can save 4.5% buying an Apple gift card through perk box. Not sure it’s worth the hassle though over Apple Pay. If the phone is £1400 only saving £63 seems a bit pointless.

I am sure I read somewhere people had issues paying quickly with gift cards last year as well.

Ah you are wrong, people had issues with Apple Pay last year. The gift card went straight through!!

That £63 will come in handy for a new AirPods Pro Case with USBC

Just imagine timmys reaction to not being able to take people's money with his own payment provider/gateway - on launch day.

Apple Pay went straight through for me last year 🤔

I’ve always used mazuma for my trade ins as I’ve always had good expieriences with them. Will be shopping about this year though. Just had an express replacement from apple so the grading should be perfect.

£63 is not to be scoffed at! Especially in this day and age

The mad rush to pre-order right after the event... gave me anxiety just thinking about that possibility.
yep when they did that for the new 14" and 16" MBPs dropped a few years back... my god the panic on knowing what SKU to buy.. ended up custom ordering a totally over spec'd MBP with the FOMO kicking in... ended up sending it back and getting a more sensible one for me 😂

Least with the phone hardest option is which colour when it’s always a 256GB needed

I think pre pre orders will be Wednesday.

I think last years was same day as keynote was Wednesday.
The last few years they website and content has updated late in the day or into the next after keynote... I'm still thinking it will be similar again but who knows.

so 11pm onwards from the 12th.

2022 - Keynote was 07/09 - I had pre-pre order email confirmation around 22:45 on the 7th

2021 - Keynote was 14/09 - pre-pre email confirmation at 23:43 on the 14th

Ah ok. I probably did it following morning when I saw the forum.

agree... I bet there's a lot of sales of the 128GB model too!

I'd hope if there is a price increase, some of it is swallowed up by starting the lineup at 256GB.

so its £110 (£1099 vs £1309) difference between 128GB and 256GB on the 14PM.. if, for example the starting prices went up £200 (worst case!) but the phones started at 256gb.. the 'actual' difference would be £90... would that be too much?

clearly for people buying the 128GB, they'd be in for the biggest hit in this scenario!

I don’t see why they wouldn’t transfer to the same strategy as the Apple Watch at some point “Available to pre order after the event”
I think the logistics of shipping the anticipated amount of iPhones all round the world for launch day would be the defining factor here.
