MM are looking into mine now - saying technical error.

It clearly shows that it was £845 - £20 but now £680. It appears to be taking the current value instead of locked in.

Edit. They investigating and should get back to me within 2 days.

All this MM malarkey has made my mind up. I really don’t need to update the 14 pro 256 I have. It was replaced late April/May with AC+ so really is new.

Got an AW Ultra same time, so I may just save some money for once after the keynote. Maybe.

contemplating for the first time to not actually start the new phone 'as new' and just transfer over... a sign of getting old maybe!

the ball ache of moving MS authenticator codes for work brings me out in a cold sweat
Literally have this too hahah. Every time

Not sure if I worked it out wrong but it’s not cost effective to keep the 14 for another year especially if you can get 800+ for it now
This is literally the only reason I upgrade

The difference between a 14pro and 15pro is nothing, even going from a 13pro to a 15pro is pretty much extremely minimal. They look the same, will act the same, the camera might sound all fancy on paper but the photos will ultimately…look the same. And they’ll both run ios17

But, if I don’t it’s just going to mean when I go from a 14pro to a 16pro, I’m going to get less for the 14 and have to spend more on the 16.

Apple basically have me financially hostage now🤣

Here is my experience of Music Magpie and explains why I hate them with a passion.

Around four years ago I attempted to sell two Apple Watches. The item was in good condition and I was honest with regards to this. They massively messed up on the price (it was about £250 overpriced). Instead of admitting this and offering me the going rate (which I would have accepted) they low balled me and offered me the lowest rate saying the watch was in poor condition (both watches). The watch was genuinely in good condition.

I decided to try them again to sell my partners iPhone - again was honest and described the item as in excellent condition. They inspected it and said the speaker was water damaged and the screen was raising from the phone. I knew this wasn’t correct so I asked for it to be returned. The day it arrived back I took it to carphone warehouse who did all their checks and offered me the highest rate.

Recently I had an order locked in for my iPhone 14 Pro Max of £745. It is in excellent condition and I share the pics below of the device. Admittedly I was late taking it to the kiosk however they still checked it etc. they downgraded the condition to ‘good’ and offered me £575. I declined, took it out, cleaned it and tried again. Again they said the condition was good and offered me £575.

I created a new order of the going rate of £700 and they said the IMEI cannot be used at the kiosk anymore and I can only post it in.

They are absolute cretins. If they didn’t want to pay the £745 then offer me the going rate of £700.

Oh. And since I created my order the price is using the kiosk has gone from £10 to £20!

I hate this company so much. I’d rather take it to carphone or sell it on eBay after this. I won’t ever use them again. Cowboys!

My Music magpie quote is still just showing -£20 but I only created it the other day as I couldn’t be bothered to keep re-saving.

I might decide to just keep the phone and not trade in though so I can have a spare just in case.

I do wonder if companies like MM start knocking down prices once they have reached a certain quota of trade ins for that model
Honestly, my phone hasn’t left its case once since I got it. I’m raging at them, let’s be honest they have too many of them so low balled me. They can sod off now

You say that but the 13 PM is fetching £560 right now on MM. which means the cost of ownership over two years is £539, average of £270 a year depreciation. The 12 PM is £410, giving it an average of £230 a year depreciation.

Right now the 14 PM is £700, making this year’s depreciation £500 already. Sure, there was a £100 price increase but that’s even more alarming that we didn’t see (I don’t think) second hand prices rise in line.

Have I done this right? If I have, it’s deffo most expensive to upgrade annually lol

If I do upgrade I think I’ll just go with an Apple trade in. Can’t be bothered with MM, they did me over on my last visit to the kiosk and that’s before they started charging for the privilege 🙄

The way I worked it out AC+ rebate so roughly 50% back £125

I owe about £600 on the PM. I can sell it now £832 AT UR + AC pocket about £350

Keep the PM for another year no AC rebate and still paying 11-12 payments of £54

Pocket the value of the handset next year or just start again now with a 15 PM
