Sound, thought so - so you can see them closer to home than travelling 80miles then (they don’t need to be in stock to see the display units and inform your order).

Clearly we’re not going to see eye to eye on this because I’m of the opinion people are unboxing unnecessary amounts of iPhones, whereas you’re not bothered and counter any suggestion.

I am bothered and it’s not something I do lightly. when I made my initial Apple Order I chose the colour I thought I wanted. I did a 2nd order (currys) as I was hoping to adjust to a Pro rather than a Pro Max, chose the colour I thought I wanted. The Pro wasn’t what I was able to get along with and, it was at that point, I realised that the colour also would be an issue. I tried to change my apple order but it wasn’t possible so I had to do another order. At any point I track down the phone I want I will be cancelling any other order obviously.
Also .. there are no dummy/display units in my town (I’ve already checked)
I too really dislike when people order things and use them when they know they’re sending them back!! That’s what drives prices up!

What sort of time is best to check for stock? I'm looking to now jump to a 16PM as my battery life on my 13PM is tanking...

6am is when the new inventory goes live.

Cancelled my iPhone 16 Pro Max 256gb Natural Titanium from Argos and ordered the White version direct from ao.com for delivery tomorrow 😀

Called AO as they put me on the wrong delivery slot and they have NONE in stock so now got no iPhone and need to wait for the money to return to my account before I can try and order another one.

Fuming!!!!

Weird as their site is still showing White as available! I just placed an order. at 13:59.. I have Natural from Argos being delivered today, but I'll just leave it sealed and see if White does arrive from AO tomorrow.

Yikes, just advised a friend that AO had some in stock, and they’ve ordered a 1TB Nat Titanium for tomorrow…

I am scanning Argos like a crazy person seeing If one pops up to collect or deliver…. Not sure when their stock refreshes though.

I think personally if the regular Pro had much improved battery life the device size wouldn't matter as much but for me, I got the Pro Max largely based on the better battery this time around.

That’s fair, but I’m sure Steve would see the current Pros as absurdly large phones. They had to wait until he was gone before even making the 4.7” iPhone 6!

I assume that stock only shows when the physical delivery is checked into the store. So I was checking around 0930 onwards (using the available pickup in the checkout on the Apple site). In my case, around 1000 they showed the 256GB/Natural as being available in Norwich (and was for about 1hr). I also saw some available devices in Battersea for a couple of minutes and also Edinburgh.

I have 3 sets of postcodes (I live in Cambridge and don't mind a train ride to a store anywhere that's a few hours away) that I use working on the assumption that availability is via shipment from China that hits lots of stores in the UK on the same day:

WC2E 8HB (the Apple Covent Garden store) so this looks at all the London stores
NR2 1SU (the Norwich Store) that gives wider area North of London
G1 2JX (the Glasgow Store, an idea of pipeline if any are available).

As noted, another poster says stock opens at 0600 so it may be that I just got lucky !! The approach above has worked over the years to the point where even though there is a store in Cambridge, I've bought about 75% of my store reserved iPhone and Watch in Norwichwithin about 1 week of release.

The last 2 Pro Max's I have just ordered the day after launch either from Apple or John Lewis. There was a delightful individual in the Oxford Street JL yesterday evening, who expressed her disgust at the poor employee there was none in stock for her to buy IMMEDIATELY. This, after clicking her fingers repeatedly and shouting at him across the room. I'm grateful I don't work in retail...

I hate O2 my eSIM which wouldn’t transfer from my 15 Pro Max to the 16 has been processing for over 24 hours so no service for me ✌️

Is it the bigger screen or the longer battery life that is the main attraction? Pro Max is getting close to the size of an iPad Mini, Me with my smaller hands and prefer to use the iPhone one handed I'll stick to the smaller Pro even if it cost £500 more than a Pro Max.

The regular Pro is approaching the size of the Huawei P30 Pro I bought over 5 years ago and I struggled to hold that phone.

For me, the dynamic island won't look so hideous on a larger screen, biggest reason aside from the battery for ordering a pro max.

256GB. They emailed me saying their call failed to go through (they didn't try... as I didn't have my number on my account lol) so I phoned back and they said they are on backorder until 27/10.
