Nope I think in store pick ups are different to deliveries. You usually get charged when your phone ships it seems and because yours is going to the store it won't be shipped until Thursday I assume via whatever courier they use to get things to stores. I'm saying this because I'm picking both of mine up in store and started getting concerned when everyone has been getting charged and I haven't!

I’ve been charged for my in store pick up

Yeah my in store order for Friday was charged on Sunday.

Oh I’m so jealous!! Aha, is that reflected anywhere online or just from what they’ve told you.

I want it to be pushed forward to Friday so bad!

Nah still shows as processing online. I don’t think o2 will push dates as their website normally has a pretty good indication of when you’ll receive it. I’ve done refresh for the last three years and I’ve always got it on launch except last year with the jet black which was the Monday after launch because of stock constraints.

I just picked up this fast charger and quick charge wall adaptor. Hope it works well! Now I’m looking at the wireless charging cradles for the car. It is a minefield

Although you’ll be able to use that charger to power the wireless base (they only need a decent usb source of power), you won’t be able to use the fast charge facility to cable charge your phone.

If you want the proper cabled charge facility for your phone too, if you haven’t yet bought it, you may be better getting one that provides USB-C (PD) then you get the best of both.

As with all these new things, USB-C alone isn’t enough, the “PD” Power Delivery standard is essentially multi voltage (5,9,12v) that allows your phone to charge by cable super quick.

It is NOT anything to do with the qualcom quick charging standard, that will only charge standard speed.

In essence, if you are using a usb-c to lightning cable, supplied from a usb-c PD charger, you’ll benefit from the super fast charging.

Standard USB socket = standard charge
Standard usb c socket = standard charge
Standard usb > lightning = standard charge

Feel like I am the only one with a 4-5 week delivery date thanks to the stupid store app. What with people successfully ordering multiple phones at different outlets and still getting an earlier delivery date, seems like I went about the ordering process all wrong this year.

Don’t know why everyone is bashing the app? I had both open and the store in the app came online much sooner (at least 5 mins) than the store on my MacBook Pro. My Friday 3rd delivery confirmation email landed in my mailbox at 8:02am after ordering with the iPhone app.

Not sure how they brought the store online but it was not just a global on switch and they must have allocated positions so not to bring the store down. Which came online first for you was just pot luck.

It is a minefield

Minefield is the right word! Is there even any reason to go over and above an iPad charger? Test from 9to5Mac...

Still waiting for the money to be taken from my account. Paid with Apple Pay on the app for in-store collection & had an issue with it being declined but now apparently approved. The credit available is reduced so looks like it’s just waiting to be cleared.

For those trying their John Lewis luck later this week, their API is returning stock data now.

64GB Space Grey: 228 units
64GB Silver: 341 units
256GB Space Grey: 230 units
256GB Silver: 180 units.

Edit: The app actually has buy now buttons if anyone wants to give it a try...
Edit 2: It errors at checkout. Still, you can add them to your basket, which will make your life way easier on Friday!

That’s not a lot of stock! You’d have to be very lucky.

Where did you get that information from?

With John Lewis you used to be able to add like 1000 to your basket and it will say something like we don't have that many but have added the maximum number.
Dunno if that little bug still works, either that or he works there and has pulled it off one of the two stock systems they have*.

Edit: Or what he says lol - I should really read the thread and not just select replies.

* I used to work there

My order showing in progress and got a window slot for Friday 9am. Does this mean I'm garaunteed to pick up in the apple store on Friday? Slightly concerend a payment has still not been taken...
