Would I be able to go to Belfast and buy one there? On the UK store it's saying I need to have a UK credit or debit card which I don't.

If you get it from the store then it shouldn't matter whether your card is a UK one or not.

If you're buying an unlocked phone then you shouldn't need anything although I don't know if they will accept cash. I believe in the past for iPhone launches sometimes they haven't to try and prevent people buying multiple phones and selling them for profit. To be honest no one can answer your questions with 100% certainty as no one knows yet what Apple's policies will be regards purchases. We can only make assumptions based on prior situations. No one can give you a definite answer.

Ok thanks for the feedback. I just don't want to take a train all the way to Belfast and camp out (if I can't reserve for store pick up) and then find out that I can't buy one for whatever reason.

Can I use cash if I wanted to? Do I need anything with me? There's mention of a passport or drivers license and utility bill.

If it's unlocked then sure - why not just use a credit card though ? It's a lot easier, and safer than carrying around £600

The credit card I use is a prepaid one and there's no physical card. I'm not sure if they accept AIB Laser cards there or not but I know I can use it to outside of Ireland.
You're probably going to have to decide whether to take a chance or not.

I guess I'll have to think about that. Or I might have some answers by then

Whats people's experiences with giffgaff? I just ordered a micro sim from them for the 4S when I get it.

It says someone from the community will cut the sim and send it out.... Sounds a bit dodgy to me

I am moving to GiffGaff too.

It's not dodgey, though. GiffGaff only make normal sims, but the community make them into MicroSims as they can get several benefits such as free gifts and top up allowance and even money. The company is kind of community run, if that makes sense. It's why it's so cheap.

Giffgaff are good. They're completely managed online and their service is cheap. Very cheap - a £10/month Goodybag covers me pretty much for all my use. Giffgaff to Giffgaff is free, as are 0800 numbers and you get internet, a load of minutes and texts thrown in too.

Giffgaff themselves don't send out Micro SIMs and they make money and customers via referral. That's why someone from the community (i.e. another GiffGaff member needs to cut a card for you and send it out. I've got a few in my desk if anyone wants a card sent out and PM's me their address I'll put one in the post for you same day. You get £5 free credit and so does the Giffgaff member referring.

The downside to Giffgaff is that they run on O2. Not exactly the best network for signal coverage in the UK.

I hope this helps,

Mike

I was just on their website and they have really good offers compared to Vodafone here in Ireland

Yep :)

Anyone who wants one (free), PM me your address. I've got about six left - more coming early next week.

Cheers,

Mike
