Processing Items - Dispatched: Ships by October 14th

Does everyone else's also say 'Dispatched: Ships...' even though the actual status is Processing Items?

Not sure I agree with everything in your post. Everything Everywhere owns Orange UK and T-Mobile UK outright. It in turn is jointly owned by Deutsche Telecom and France Telecom. Orange UK and T-Mo UK are merging companies in the UK, which is creating massive headaches for their staff. At present you can roam between the two 2G networks, but cannot make data calls or use their 3G services.

MBNL was set up in 2007 between T-Mo UK and 3 UK to share their 3G networks. The latest press release from MBNL states that they manage 12,000 sites for T-Mo/3 and have deactivated 5,000. I cannot find any mention of Arqiva with respect to this arrangement (but please point me in the direction of this information, I'd be interested to read it). Last year Everything Everywhere announced that Orange would also enter into this network sharing venture, as the share of MBNL that T-Mo UK owned was transferred to Everything Everywhere when the merger went through.

That said, it is a legal requirement in the UK that where a new site is planned, the network operator must demonstrate that a site-sharing arrangement will not meet their needs.

In summary, you will end up with Orange, T-Mo and 3 all using the same 3G network and O2 and Vodafone left out in the cold. So far, the only arrangement that O2 and Vodafone have is to share infrastructure (masts and I think cabins as well), but not radio networks.

I am an ex Orange employee and currently work for one of their suppliers.

You can start sharing 3G between orange and t mobile from next week onwards, it should be enabled across the uk by the end off the year

This is the latest from Vodafone UK:

Their aiming to deliver all pre-order handsets on 14th October.

All orders placed online or over the phone between preorders going live on Friday 7th and 12pm Monday 10th will receive it. Bill credits will be made against your Vodafone account during November. This is for new and upgrading customers.

Tesco £7.50 (200mins) + £5 (500gb data) = £12.50

[ or you could try auto top-up on giff-gaff for £10 a month but seems a bit of a hassle to remember to make sure you top up at least £10 a month (auto-topup only triggers for £3 or below) ]

+ you need one of these:

I'm an existing O2 customer and have 6 months or so left on my current contract.

I was like many of you going to do the fast track at a cost of £143 until they removed it, now luckily one of my good friends works in the o2 store and has worked a way round getting one on launch day, also the free 16GB 4S which would normally be £49.

If you go on the website they say only existing customers can get one on the 14th, now o2's own definition of an existing customer is anybody with a mobile contract, home phone, home or mobile broadband through o2.

So thats that sorted i can get one on the 14th, and get it for free. Now the upgrade part. I currently only pay £26 (Inc 30% discount) per month anyway thats with a £5 bolt on and not even the lowest contract option. So if i was to continue the contract and pay it off for the next six months it'll currently cost me £156. Now if i lower the contract and remove my bolt on it'll only be £18 p/m which is £108. Way lower than the fast track of £143.

Only downside is i will have to have a different number, which i s no biggie really.

So i'll be queuing outside my o2 store very early to get my free 16GB 4S at o2's expense

Oh and here are the FAQ's on o2's website, just look at the "Who is an existing customer"

The Dispatched: bit doesn't mean that it's been dispatched, it's just telling you that the next bit of text (i.e. Ships by Oct 14th) is when it will be dispatched.

Mine has changed to say this too. Not too sure when it changed though.

Mine doesn't say dispatched anywhere..

Edit: I lie, on the deliveries app it says shipped(when I go to the apple site through that)

But apple site on safari says:

Processing Items Dispatched:*Ships by October 14th

Deliveries app:

Processing Items Ships:*Ships by October 14th

what do you mean by "removed the fast track"? (sorry if i'm asking for old news here - just confused, cos i was in an O2 store today, and was told I could fast track upgrade no problem...

It says Ships on the US store. Perhaps the App uses the US store.

your existing monthly base contract needs to be >£40 now to qualify, that wasn't the case at the start of this week I believe

Before Saturday just gone anybody could fast track upgrade by paying the rest of their contract in one go less 20% less VAT. Even my mum who is on a £10 p/m contract could do it.

Since the IP4S tariff announcements they removed the fast track options for anybody who pays under £40 p/m.

But paying my contract off for the next 6 months works out cheaper anyway.

Depends if you view it on apple.com or apple.co.uk as they are worded differently.

The deliveries app looks at apple.com
