Hmm let's hope they don't start charging you extra then. My wife is still under contract so i hope they're not going to be awkward about changing plan. She doesnt mind seeing out the contract of course but would like to change phone. I wont be paying £20 for a micro sim, i'll just cut down her old one. It sounds like Orange are being a bit of a pain in places. I'll call them tonight and see how the land lies.

I'm mid way through a 24 month contract.

I initially thought about cutting the sim down, but then i found out the data services are different for iphone and BB so it just wont work.

After speaking to them a 2nd time, they didnt make any mention of a charge for the micro sim, and after changing my plan over to an iphone tariff, told me my micro sim would be sent out to me. which was strange considering the first guy was adamant that they dont give them out for free!

getting a bit annoying watching those from the US get tracking info etc, where nothing at all is happening with UK orders

Carphone Warehouse sent me an email not long ago:

We've processed your order and we'll be dispatching it from our warehouse very soon. You can track the progress of the delivery using the link below:

PLEASE NOTE - If you've pre ordered the iPhone 4S your order will be delivered on Friday 14th October.

I'd resigned myself to not doing an upgrade this time round, as I only started a 2yr contract when the iPhone4 came out, and I didn't want to be stuck in for 18 or 24 months from now, when the iPhone 5 will probably be released next October ish...

However, just found out (this is probably old news to others) that I can upgrade early for £218, and O2 will give me £282 to "recycle" my iPhone 4... PLUS O2 have now started doing 12 month contracts for existing customers.

Looks like I'll be getting up early on Friday after all :D

I'm a bit confused over this HSPA+ business. Will we get the benefit...

HSPA - High Speed Packet Access is the most widely deployed...

Yeah, I was caught up in those discussions. I'm more inclined to say the iP4S is not a HSPA+ but we won't know until a teardown is undertaken.

From a user's point of view it doesn't matter much as the theoretical 14.4Mb/s speeds won't be reached due to signal attenuation, bandwidth sharing with other users, distance from mast etc. Whether a user will have access to these speeds depends on the network and whether they've upgraded your local base stations.

Apologies if it has already been discussed but has anybody who has pre-ordered through Three has any sort of shipment notice or had their money taken from their accounts yet? Just wondering as it's been all quiet on my end since I pre-ordered. Thanks

I Pre-Ordered Monday and called them today to see what was happening. They then put me through to another dept and ran the credit check etc.

All confirmed and approved over the phone but still no email confirmation and they couldn't give me the delivery date over the phone. Was told I should get the email confirmation with the delivery notification within in the next 24 hours

I sincerely hope they will be out for Friday, but it does make me wonder if they are just taking as many orders as they can and then just stalling on the delivery.

Will report back when the email arrives. I'll be on the phone to them again tomorrow afternoon if I haven't had one.

Had confirmation from 3UK on twitter that my pre order will be available for this Friday
They say they have loads of stock !!

Fingers crossed. Anyone know what time Three CS opens on Friday morning? Will be ringing them first thing for absolute clarification mine is out for delivery or it's a trip to join the back of the line at the Metro Centre!!!!

I wouldn't trust 3 Customer Services with a barge pole, in my experience. The number of times they lied to me whilst I was in contract with them.

That's good news, when did you order, sat? :D

Westfield Shepherds Bush

So I checked, and the Apple store at Westfield opens at 8am instead of the usual 10am.

I've never been to a launch there before - Has anyone here? How does the queuing work? Do people queue outside before they open the Mall itself?

The Westfield at Shepherds Bush is open well before 10am as other shops like M&S, Costa Coffee etc open much earlier and also staff have to get in to go to work. So yeah, you don't have to wait outside the mall itself, just outside the Apple Store. I assume the same with Westfield Stratford.

Ah - I get it. Thanks :)

Also there's quite a few entry points. I wonder if its going to be a mad scramble like a Next sale to the Apple Store when the Westfield doors open? :D

Lol!! Thats true!! I went to the original iPhone launch at the Regent St store and was quite chilled seeing as it was in the afternoon... I'm assuming the main doors should be the best bet by the southern terrace...:D

Where did you find out that the Blackberry and iPhone data services are different? TBH im tempted to just cut down the BB sim, stick it in the iPhone and hope for the best. A bit of net research has suggested that it should be fine.

The Bush - I live right next door to it. I could go to Regent Street or Covent garden but don't fancy getting up at dawns crack when there's an Apple Store right outside - The stock levels are tempting me into town but hey - If Westfield run out of stock - they run out of stock.
