5Ss you mean I suppose. I called the store on Regent St. and they told me that no new stock came in today, but likely on Monday...

Yes. Sorry, was typing on my 5 keyboard.

I specifically went there (Covent Garden), to try and get a 5S, but was told they all sold out yesterday.
I was buying some other stuff, and mentioned to the guy serving me that I had originally come just for a 5S. He pointed, and told me, "Go see that man there", who was handing out tickets. I got one for a Slate Grey 64Gb.

There were only 5 people in front of me. We waited no longer than 5 mins before they served us. By that time, the queue behind us had grown.

They had the 5S's on a small trolley behind a barrier. I estimate about 100.

The person I spoke to at EE said something similar.

She said that there seems to be a Saturday slot, but they can't guarantee it.

Did you get an email or SMS with delivery information?

Yes, i got an SMS from ukmail circa 1600, saying that my delivery is esitmated for Saturday, but i just assumed that this was just an (unnecessary) heads up for my sim pack being delivered, as she said that would be sent right away, but as it turns out, the sim pack was in the baggy too!

Yours should be on its way then!

CPW+DPD=WIN
May have cost me an extra £50 but ordered last night at about 6.30 and arrived this morning at 9.30. Great service.

Anyone know the easiest carrier to lock my phone onto for unlock? Just got my 5S from carphone warehouse but not put a sim in yet

If you get a 3 payg sim, you can unlock for £15.32 - fill in the form online and they call you within 2 working days to take payment. They usually unlock straight away after that. Make sure it's payg and not contract as you have to wait 30 days for the contract unlock.

I have called around 5 stores and none said they had any stock. I've given up for this weekend.

I wonder if they had any silver... Either way sounds like they're all gone now.

I called EE and they said they've cocked up my order :(.

The phone has been ordered on the system, but basically; it never got to the delivery stage and just sat there... so now it'll enter the postal system whenever and get delivered Monday/Tuesday .

And that's a cock up in your book? That's only a few days...

Have you used them before? Supporting 5S already?

I used them to unlock my 4S and they were really good, they said 2 working days but it was done within 24 hours (though obviously with the 5s/c release it will probably be busier). I filled out the online form which asked for my IMEI number and it didn't raise any issues, though obviously I won't know 100% until Monday as they only unlock on working days.

From the Three website

If you want to unlock a phone or Mobile Broadband device from Three to use it with a SIM from another network, you’ll need to fill in the form or call the number below. But there are a few things you need to know first:

If you're on a Pay Monthly contract with us, you'll need to be 30 days into your contract and have paid your first bill before you can unlock your device, unless you've just upgraded.
If you don’t have a Three account, you’ll need to get a Three SIM to get your device unlocked. You can order a free Pay As You Go SIM online, or you can buy one from your local Three store for £1.99. You can then use those account details to fill in the form below.
When filling in the form, please make sure that your personal details like your name and address match up exactly to the ones you see on your bill. They have to be the details of the account owner. If they don’t match these we may not be able to unlock your device.
If you’re on a Pay Monthly phone plan, you can also place an unlock request over the phone using our automated service:

Type *#06# on your phone’s call screen to get your IMEI number. Write this down, as you’ll need it on the call.
Call 333 from your Three phone.
Select option two.
Select option three.
Select option one.
You’ll now be able to place your unlock request.

After you’ve requested an unlock code.
You’ll need to pay a one-off fee of £15.32 to unlock your device. If we can’t add this to your next bill or you’re on Pay As You Go, we’ll call you within two working days to take payment on a credit or debit card. This card will need to be registered to the account owner. If you’re on Pay Monthly, you’ll see this payment confirmed on your next bill.

Once you’ve paid, we’ll usually give you your code straight away but it can take up to seven days at times. We’ll send it to you in an email, along with instructions on what to do next.

Apple devices.
If you’re unlocking an iPhone or iPad and you have iOS 5 or above, you’ll just need to insert your new SIM once we’ve either texted or emailed you.
If you’re unlocking an iPhone or iPad and you haven’t yet updated to iOS 5 or above, you'll need to connect your device to iTunes to complete the unlocking process. We'll send you a text or email to let you know when you can do this.

I did this with my and my dads iPhone 4, 4S and 5. Worked, unlocked within 24 hours I think.

Great, thanks guys!

Will just go out and buy a 3 PAYG SIM now rather then wait for free one through post so i'm up on the queue

Do I need to top up £5 or something minimum and use it?

I don't even know if you need to top it up, but they have a couple of good add-ons (if you top up £15 you get unlimited data, 300 minutes and 3000 texts lasting 30 days. They have a £10 one as well which gives 500mb data) so if you get decent reception on 3, you might be as well sticking that on whilst you're deciding on a package. I'd put £5 on it in any case, just to tide you over during the unlocking period.

Hi All,

Are CPW selling the iPhone 5S sim free? I have 12 months remaining on my o2 contract so was going to buy the 5s sim free and just ride out my contract?

Sim Free as in it will get locked to the first carrier you use.

They are indeed, just here http://www.carphonewarehouse.com/mo...-finder?&manufacturer=APP002&dealType=HANDSET

Not sure what ones (if any) are still in stock for Monday delivery, but I think the space grey models are.

Edit: That link doesn't go to the right page, sorry. Just click on sim-free phones and then iphone, and it's the first handset listed.

So, what is the consensus on how to get a gold 5s relatively soon, unlocked, without needing to wait in for delivery, which is something I can't do?

If I order a 5S from CPW is my warranty with CPW or apple?
If it develops a fault can I just walk into apple retail and exchange it?

Buy one from a scalper on eBay. I don't think in the short term there is really any other way now that they are sold out.

You probably should have queued if you wanted gold.

Legally it's with the retailer, so CPW, but Apple do all warranty, no matter where you bought it so you can still go to Apple, just as if it was bought direct.

Fair enough, but I won't be doing that because I don't want to support the scalpers, pay the extra price, and besides I'd still have to wait in, which I can't do.

I guess I'll just have to check out some of the stores from time to time and hope I get lucky.

After a huge ordeal, I managed to secure an iPhone 5s space grey (sim free) from carphone warehouse. I think it's obvious that carphone warehouse were told they shouldn't advertise that they sell the 5s sim 3 so openly. You have to search for the phone itself on their website.

I phoned twice to make sure that they actually will sell it sim 3 and I was fobbed off twice, they said they won't be selling sim free 5's until at least a month.

But it was curious because the website was clearly stating I could order a sim free phone. So I made that point and eventually the guy on the other end had to ask his manager if this is the case. And they let me order!

Expecting a delivery on Monday!
