Am on EE sim only tariff ; question though, does this mean we buy the watch from :apple: and get the embedded sim activated by EE or EE provides the watch and deliver with 4G enabled?
Yeah, think I'll buy the Watch from Apple. I haven't set up an EE deal yet cos I've only just left my other network. Isn't EE only offering 24 months anyway.

But it says
  1. UMTS not supported. Contact your service provider for more details.

It may just be that EE are the ones limiting it to 4G, why I don’t know, but the device supports 3G bands and other countries getting the same device are using 3G with it. Probably why Apple are stating to contact your provider and not Apple for any inquiries regarding it. Or maybe it’s to do with the U.K. supposedly only allowing one device per phone number, which doesn’t really add up unless they’re using a strictly data connection to get around it.

I’ll be waiting to see how it pans out once other U.K. operators are on board before I make any decisions that’s for sure, I’m not a massive fan of EE as it is so I don’t think I’d move to them just for the sake of cellular connectivity on a watch. I’d like a bit more clarification on the limitations and options before I decide.

Will be doing the same just waiting on EE to release more info regarding what sim contract is needed to work with Watch 3. I’m hoping I can buy the 18gb data deal pop it in my iPhone and il be good to go? Pre ordering from Apple tomorrow first thing

Whoever is looking for a great deal with EE you have to call them! Especially if you on a Sim Only deal 12m already or your contract is running out. The prices online and in shops are standard prices and I have always managed to get better deals.

I am currently on a £19, 12m Sim Only with all the extras and 20GB of data.

Yep same as me. Let me know how it goes, send a PM if needed!!
I'll order the watch, if EE is extremely expensive (+£10) then I'll just return it - I hear Apple are good with returns.

No. EE is the best carrier in the UK. Trust me. I tried most of them

You can't say that. It depends on your area. In my area (and pretty much the whole of London) the signal would always drop or there would never be any signal anywhere. It was a massive hassle. From my experience. O2 is the best.

I work in London, signal never drops for me..."never be any signal anywhere"...okay then.

As you said it depends on your location, where ever I go in London its fine. Yeah its not as good as other networks in various places but it never drops everywhere.

O2 in my opinion have good building penetration but in other areas EE beat them easily, don't even get me started on Three.

I would happily share my 12GB 4G Max data Plan with the watch if possible

...or maybe they are the network that have positively supported the Apple ecosystem when the other couldn’t be bothered - Visual Voicemail, Wi-Fi Calling innovations. If you were Apple, who would you talk to first???

I seem to recall that O2 were first with visual voicemail. I remember transferring from O2 to EE to get 4G but had to go without visual voicemail for months and months. 3rd party VV apps are crap so I hated it.

EE has always been ahead of every other carriers in terms of technology deployment. They were the first ones to deploy LTE in 2012, brought Wi-Fi Calling and VoLTE. I don't care about indoors coverage as I always have Wi-Fi indoors. I used to live across London in South East, East, Central and North and never had any major issues with EE compared to Three, giffgaff and Vodafone

Some information from EE on getting the series 3 with them compared to with apple

Yes, you will need a compatible iPhone on an EE contract and an e-SIM from EE to use the full features of the watch.

EE is the only network that gives the watch full connectivity.
If you didn’t get your watch from EE you will need to get a SIM Only plan from EE (from £5 per month) to use the features.

with previous Apple Watchs EE have sold, it's always been sold as a package (Watch + iPhone) and the Watch can only be added to a plan at the same time as either starting a new EE handset plan or upgrading your handset plan.

You have never been able to add a Watch EE sell to an existing plan mid-contact.

Who know yet if it will be any different this year? I suspect where EE are selling the whole Watch package, I think it will be the same.

The exception this year though will be the cellular data plan bit. The rumors are that EE will be offering some kind of plan(s) for them (be it a separate line or add-on; again no-one knows for sure yet) to go with the Watch where people have chosen to buy from other sources i.e. Apple etc.

I suspect buying the watch from Apple and then buying an EE cellular plan for it will require you have already have an EE handset plan/account in place though. Again though no-one knows for sure yet!

£5pm is better than what I thought although it's still frustrating to me that they try and charge more for using the data you've already paid for.....I'm much more tempted at £5.00 though, I really don't have much use for it as I always have my phone with me.

When I spoke wit EE about my contract they told me I'd be able to add the watch if I hadn't bought it from them. I was also told all plans/info will be available tomorrow

London is a BIG PLACE. For me, EE was BAD and I know a lot of other people in my area and where we go think so as well.

Yeah just seen somebody said this on the EE forums

Maybe they have and that'd be great but I can't get their signal to work at all ever. Like I said, it's an area thing. I know a lot of people in my area who struggle with EE and EE have a lot of complaints about their signal whenever I look it up/tweet them etc. Just because YOU don't have issues with it where you are, doesn't mean they don't exist.

Funnily enough, I've never had any issues with Giffgaff (they use o2 so that'd be why) and Vodafone has also been a winner for me.

Another thing I don't like about EE is their customer service, whenever I've had issues they've always made life hard and accused me of lying etc. I just can't deal with them. Even my cousin who used to work there had big issues with the way things were done. They might be the biggest network in the UK, but they're ***** imo.

I have to admit O2 are the best.
EE we used to have problems with, but I'm gonna give them a second try simply because of the Watch.

They really are, they're expensive though. I'm glad Giffgaff is cheaper and uses O2! It's a happy medium.

Orange were AMAZING year after year after year. Then they merged and became EE, got greedy, couldn't handle double the customers and fell apart.

EE are shockingly bad round here. After suffering with them and poor signal/customer service and high priced I got away to Giffgaff which was a breath of fresh air. Needing to travel a lot I upgraded to Three who are amazing and I get a signal pretty much round the world on the one contract.

But seemingly that isn't enough for Apple and this exclusivity contract. So no Apple Watch for me even though it was the one thing from the presentation I had to have. Now I won't ever get it. I am contracted out to Three and no way am I downgrading to EE and paying more money for the pleasure August 2018.

Just ordered EE sim only plan 12month £21pm 20gb & unlimited calls/texts. Confirmed with EE that this will work with the Apple Watch 3 and it will be an extra £5pm once activated to the sim. Job done. I will buy the iPhone 8+ or X outright once iv decided so I’m not caught up in a 24m long ass expensive contract.

On twitter EE are now saying that if you've bought the watch outright elsewhere then you can add it to an existing plan where you will get unlimited data on the watch for 6 months and thereafter £5/month for 10GB. For some reason EE are giving the Watch a seperate data allowance, though calls and texts are shared with the phone plan (though I guess for most that's unlimited anyway). Yet to see this confirmed on the website but several of their agents are now giving out this information.

Someone else just posted a link to this info on the EE forum. Seems accurate.

Perhaps the skateboarder was worried that if he fell off his board, he might land on his $1000 phone in his pocket and smash it to bits! :(

Back when I used to skate, it was only the polo mints in my pocket that would get broken, and my pride! :D
So without phone he could only smash $600 watch, big savings indeed :)
