I worked out earlier that I could by a 256GB iPhone X with Applecare included in NYC, for the same price as it would cost in the U.K for just the phone, so there's enough of a difference.
Oops, missed your reply! :) You're missing the point here:

iPhone X in the US: $999 (excluding tax)
iPhone X in the UK: £832 (excluding tax (VAT))
999USD = ~745 GBP.

Don't get me wrong, it's nearly £100 more over here, but it's always been like that with Apple. It all boils down to the fact we pay more tax. I think it's a lot less severe than we're lead to think it is.

And when you purchase in the UK or any EU country you get a two year warranty, whereas in the United States you get a one year warranty. This makes EU sold Apple gear more expensive for Apple, so they need to charge a higher price.
