I'm not sure if I'm going to get one. I may just stick with my iPad Air 2 which still runs perfectly fine. I'm not sure how beneficial a keyboard and pencil would be on a 9.7 inch display. I'm not even sure if I'd use the pencil and if I wanted to do any real work I'd find it much easier to use my MacBook Air.

The price increase would also make me stop and think. I currently have a 128GB iPad Air 2. It sounds like the base model of the iPad pro 9.7 will cost almost as much as I paid for my iPad Air 2 with 128GB.

I skipped the Air 2 to wait for the Air 3. Currently use a 3rd generation which is well due an upgrade.

If I were in your shoes I'd jump on it.

Apple may still convince me in the keynote on Monday.

At the moment I'm more interested in the new watch bands and picking up an iPhone SE/5S as a secondary phone.

I have got accustomed to 128GB storage ever since they introduced it with the iPads and iPhones. I definitely use more then 64GB on both. Even though I have an iPad Air 2 I'm pretty sure I'll end up upgrading to the new one irrespective of price and features.

Although I'm not likely to use the pencil much if it has 4GB of RAM and 4 speakers as well as the faster processor those would definitely swing it for me.

I think the prices will stay as they are with the Air 2 and that will entice people to buy the pencil and possibly the Smart Keyboard at the same time. If they hike the prices then people might not be enticed to buy the extras at the same time

I wish that would be the case but I don't think it will be. That would make the maxed out 9.7 Pro just £20 cheaper than the base model larger pro. Reckon it will be somewhere between the current Air 2 prices and the current iPad Pro prices.

Good discussion.
How long do you think it will take for the new iPad to be available at Currys? I have a £500 voucher waiting :)

I think it's normally a few months until other retailers sell the new iPads. Don't really know as I just get them at Apple.

Oh...I was hoping in a few weeks as iPads are not that exclusive anymore.

I'm pretty sure Curry's will be selling well inside a few weeks. I reckon no more than a few days of the launch date of stock in Apple retail, possibly even the same day as Apple stores given the tempered demand nowadays for iPad.

Normally up to a few weeks. Can be even shorter sometimes. Personally i hope its the same prices, additionally would like the air 2 to be sold at a lower price so I can get that as a replacement for the familys old ipad 3.

The air 2 that i am using atm, is still not outdated, speed wise atm. For the moment, the air 2 is still blazing fast. The only thing that really tempts me is the apple pencil support, I might buy it if does replace the ipad at the same price. I personally dont think its worth paying extra money just for the ability to use a pencil.

Seeing these prices, the 32gb model is probably the best value at £499. I'm still getting the 128gb version for £619 (was hoping it'd be £579 :() but I think this iPad is a great upgrade from my Air. I mean the display itself is even better -apart from resolution - than the 12.9' model, along with the camera improvements and giant performance improvement from my Air. I'm so ready to buy this!

Thinking I'll also go for the 128GB Wifi. Anyone looking at the prices for the cases and keyboard cover tho

I normally just get like a £20 case for my iPad from Amazon. Does the job. I know for the 12.9' Pro, the Smart Keyboard was like £169 and reviews of it weren't great. I'm not planning on buying the Smart Keyboard anyway.

£129 for the keyboard. And I assume it'll be smaller than full size so won't be ideal for touch typing. Wasn't a fan of the larger one either - keys just felt horrible.

Will either get by with the touch keyboard or consider a bluetooth keyboard for longer sessions.

The price is frustrating though - used to £479 for the 64GB ipads, so the 32GB + pencil is already £100 more, so can't really justify 128GB. I'll make do with the lower storage, although I liked having tons of podcasts archived and those add up.

But £479 is close to the price you can get good condition used 12" pros for, as for some reason they really dropped in price on the used market (lackluster demand?). The larger screen would be more cumbersome but I mostly just use it on the sofa
