Sounds like someone needs to go take business economics 101 class again.

Not to mention the contract they signed when becoming a retailer that selling early like this violates.

I don't even understand the points these guys are making. Products have release days. Manufacturers get products to shops ahead of the release day to make sure they're in stock ... on release day. In the alternative they're proposing, where shops can sell something just because they have it in, Apple would just ensure that no shops received stock until it was officially on sale, which would cause even more supply constraints.

What do you mean? They literally announced that it was discontinued. There's no quotes around "discontinued" and it wasn't "previously mentioned", it happened.

They're continuing to support them, though, and even to sell them at the moment as they still have stock, so yeah they're still advertising features.
Yeah fair point. I supposed it depends how many they’ve got stashed in warehouses. If they’re going to continue being able to sell them for several months it’s make sense to advertise them. If they run out in a month or two, it could cause confusion or upset from customers who want the feature advertised on their brand new product.

No more option for delivery but could collect from Preston

Will post on here when it arrives later today.

I don’t understand… when I try delivery or collection (doesn’t matter which) the website just reloads or takes me to an error page. I live in South London.
There must be an Argos nearby to you. Rock on up and collect that early treat.

In and out, no questions asked. Apple TV acquired!
Same same. Going to have a brilliant thread home hub and finally an excuse for a travel Apple TV that the cost couldn't be justified for previously.

Come on Meg. Funny thing is I had no intention of getting one in the first place.
Yes, I was just going to stick it out with the original one but all this excitement got to me. And also as I have been using it more the remote on the original has been killing me. Once you look at £55 just for a remote, you start to wonder if you just really need a spare Apple TV.

Well Apple TV is now my main means of watching TV so makes sense to upgrade.

And guess what. It just arrived.

Surprised at Apple. Doesn’t have the normal pull tabs to open the cellophane.

There is one but I can’t seem to place an order for collection there. Also the dates keep changing (sometimes the website says I can collect it right way, sometimes it says the earliest I can collect it is Wednesday)

edit: now it won’t even let me add one to the trolly!

Have you tried the Argos app? They've programmed everything a bit odd and it's like the app and the website are on two entirely separate systems.

yeah I used to use it long time ago. I just downloaded it again but still don’t see one for collection or delivery today (out of stock for delivery and for collection I get an error saying it can’t check the stock). I’ll check at midnight!

its still letting you order, don't click on the item on the web site, instead go straight to "add to trolley" and it allows me to select the option to collect from my nearest store at 9am tomorrow or my 2nd nearest store it says collect right away. (Bury and Bolton stores)

Doesn’t work for me… I tried various stores but the same error for each.

Who cares really? It's a day, let them sell it and stop moaning about everything. The world would be a happier place. ✨

If they’ve got it, they should be able to sell it IMO. It’s not like this is a product that is going to have immense demand in the UK and have people queuing around the block lol.
It has been a thing with game consoles, games, tech products. The release date is the release date, there is a lot of work involved on the back-end of things and logistics is one of them. If that would be the case Apple stores would be the first receiving products which would cause a massive amount of people to visit the store just to get it on day1. By releasing the product at the same time in different stores, it allows all retailers to schedule aditional staff and spread traffic in multiple locations.

You are right the AppleTV is probably not as hot as a new phone, but still it is just easier and looks more professional with a specific date for global release then “check a store nearby from next week if it has it”
