I hate that guy from Glassgow earlier in this thread that had a 5 series screen and took it back to Apple and got a service phone with ANOTHER 5 series screen... I have had 5 iPhones and they all have the "bad" screen and he managed to get TWO good ones - jammy git!

He sure was a lucky guy ;) Although it wasn't a service phone, it was a brand new fully boxed 5 series handset.

All the best

Sneeks 5 Series :p:D

lol I understand world economics fine - I just think for what they do they deserve better - and of course your assuming that the report in question can be trusted...

You don't seem to understand much fine, you certainly can't read. First, i have seen the Chinese production industry first hand with my own eyeballs. Secondly the report was done by an independent body, however, irrespective of the report the comments i made about their pay are based on real life observed fact.

So you think all the people in the UK and USA etc that design all this stuff shouldn't be paid as much as the people that sit there repetitively assembling things not having to use their brain to do so? Thats like say a supermarket shelf stacker should be payed more than me as a research engineer. Supermarket shelf stackers on £50k a year

I'd love to see the world through your eyes.... its one world that wouldn't ever work

Holy crap, you're on £50K pa at 24? I'm in the wrong job. :)

I'm actually on more than that if i combine all my revenue streams but yeah :p

Sorry didn't mean to boast but i am trying to make a point. We have factory workers here that get minimum wage, whilst i think thats a crap wage for them they really only do manual labour and in the grand scheme of things people are paid according to what they do in line with the cost of living.

Well if its so easy to repetatively assemble things then how come lots of screens are not coming out right? :p

Could be anything, machine tolerance not set correctly, incorrect balance of chemicals used, contaminated manufacturing area etc.

I'd suggest if your going head to head with Apple on this you wise up and understand a few things about manufacturing.

Well the people in China are responsible for the machines - so at the end of the day someone in China has not noticed something or done something wrong causing this issue.

Just to be clear I have never told anyone at Apple I am blaming anyone for this I have simply said what the problems are and they said they would replace it with a different panel when then have found one. It does not benefit me being confrontational to them as they are helping me!

I never said I wanted compensation NOW - I said if they didn't send me a good screen I would want my money back as the phone is faulty but even they I would not expect them to refund me any money which is why I mentioned the small claims court.

But it will not come down to that because they are replacing the phone. So its not an issue!

lol I think I am unlucky - what else can you call 5 phones all with the same problem!?

When I got my iPhone with its patchy lighting I was really disappointed and called my friend who has also bought one. He was totally happy with his and said he didn't have any problems at all. I took mine back and got another one and it was much better.

Well, yesterday I saw my friend for the first time and we got our phones out. His phone had horrible patchy lighting and negative blacks. It was far worse than my original one had been. I would have been horrified to have received such a sub-standard phone and it would have been taken back to the shop.

My point is that one's assessment of an iPhone screen is partly subjective. A phone I would have taken back in an instant was perfectly acceptable to my friend.

I am not saying Apple should get away with this I'm merely pointing out the subjective part of this equation.

Maintaining universal balance? Lots of people (including me) have bought many Apple products and had no problems. So it figures somebody has to be getting all the dud kit. :D

I for one thank you for this invaluable service.

Maybe they should be made in the USA or UK then?

Unless Apple were to pay them more, they can expect some bad batches. I guess it comes with paying people not very much money in a country far away. If I was working in a factory in China making Apple products, I wouldn't care that some western people aren't 100% happy with the screen - it still works, right?

Apple have gotten back to me and told me that the screens are NOT faulty and there is nothing they can do.

Clearly this is NOT the case but they have offered me some compensation by way of a gift or two accessory wise which I have decided to accept assuming they accept what I want them to send me!

So am I happy with the solution? No because its not a solution but I really like how helpful the people at Apple have been so I am willing to take the bribe lol slip of the tougue there! I appologise.

I still have dead pixels and I will be returning my iPhone again in the new year when I hope there will be an iPhone in stock which IS manufactured to the standard that the US phones were when they came out in June.

They have tried to help you , but there is a limit to everyone's patience and understanding. Remember, you have had an average of 1.5 replacement iPhones per week since launch. No less than five in all!

I can't say that your news surprises me.
