Tried them all. Had the card working when I popped it into my contract iPhone but would not work in the O2 dongle.

The APN on the system for your iPhone will be idata/mobile/payandgo.o2.co.uk

The dongle will try for m-bb.o2.co.uk - which will be unavailable given the sim you are using.

If you go into the settings for the connection manager software, you can change the APN it connects to. Try some of the other's I mentioned earlier - you might get it working. Thanks!

Thank you so much for your help! I got it working thanks to you!

I thought that I had tried all the different settings in the 'Mobile Connect' screen on my Mac, but it finally worked when I decided to have one last attempt and changed the APN to payandgo.o2.co.uk.

I am so pleased I can't tell you! That saves me £120 per year! :D

Hey guys, before you use mazuma, check this site out.

http://www.mobilephonexchange.co.uk/

Theyre gunna give me £191 for my 3G 8GB. So that means i need to stump up £250 for a 3GS.

I still might sell on ebay, but this was by far the best site for offering the most cash. I saw their ad today on comedy central.

I've a SE K800 that i used before I got an iPhone, wonger if I could put one of those PAYG sims in that and use it for tethering? It was pretty easy as I recall, just select Bluetooh PAN from the bluetooth menu.
Glad I read this thread.

I'm considering getting a 3Gs, but it would have to work on Vodafone, if I've done my research correctly my 2 options are:

1. Get an O2 pay as you go and jailbreak
2. Get an unlocked one from Italy/Belgium/Australia

Is that correct?

Cheers,

Greg

I'll be going the Option #2 way, since I have an original iPhone, and I was a very late adopter, April. My contract doesn't end until September/October so :(

I don't understand this fascination with having to upgrade every year.

When you buy a Mac/iPod, do you sell it on a year later when the newer model comes out? Didn't think so, unless you have money to burn. In which case, fair enough.

iPhone contracts will always be 24 months, why not just accept that you will miss out on every other new model?

Smartphones are mini-computers, not throwaway mobiles, so the speed of progression is a lot slower - you won't be missing out on much.

Personally, I will be getting the 3GS very soon and will look forward to upgrading it in two years' time.

if i could pay £100 for a brand new mac then yes, i would do that. £100 per year for a brand new mac would be fantastic because that's what i paid for my 3gs after selling my 3g.
