And nobody felt sorry for you?
If they did they didn't mention it. Besides, I really couldn't give a flying poo what others think of my dress sense. It's a constant source of arguments between my partner and I, since he's always got to look just so and I'd quite happily go out in rags providing they were comfortable :)

It's a bit of snow, and you don't need to go to work?

Well, this is how it works in the UK:

Winter - Transport grinds to halt because of snow on the line, ice on the road, etc
Summer - Transport grinds to a halt because the heat expands the iron in train lines and pushes them out of position
Autumn - Transport grinds to a halt because of leaves on the line

So as a result we only sustain our economy by working blood hard in Spring...

Must be Global Wa....erm.....Cooling screwing with the Brits. ;)

Sure is!!
Although if the greeland ice sheet melts, it miht cause an ice age here in Europe. Last time a huge body of melted snow hit the Atlantic, it sent us into an ice age. It was all caused by America too

Spring - Transport grinds to a halt because of flooding:rolleyes:

Fair enough. Just that some people in North America like making fun of the Gap even though they probably have 1 or 2 Gap products in their closet. I don't have Gap stuff, so I don't feel guilty about it. Something about sweatshops and all.

They tend to have nice, colourful scarves, mind you. ;)

I kind of knew that, but I NEVER saw snow when living in London. I heard about schools closing due to icy roads in Scotland several times, but I always assumed that there would be a lot more snow, and a lot less slush. I also imagined enough snow to slip on. ;)

Piccies

Took the oppurtunity to waste half hour and take some photos from my office in Vauxhall.

I really like the last one. I like the way the railway draws you into the picture. It also looks strangely ageless - it could've been taken in 1977 as much as 2007, but that may be a comment on Vauxhall rather than the photo :p

Great photos. And with running trains too. Or did you Photoshop them in? :D

No- the trains *were* actually running during the snow!

Might not sound like such a big deal, but anyone whose spent too much time on (or waiting for) a delayed South West train, you'd think that it was an optical illusion.

I did did some slight photoshopping on these - adjusting the Contrast mainly, and making the last one black and white. It looks like it was taken on an ancient Zenit because the windows were pretty dirty and i set the ISO to 400.

Very nice pics geese, especially the last one. :) I remember you from the London picnic! :D

No wonder we all have cars. Apart from me, im not 17 till next week.

Also is it just me or is snow romantic?

Why I'm not in work - the evidence!

Notice where a car has attempted the hill and hit the kerb? Plus I've just watched a Land Rover go down it sideways.

When will they learn?

I've just finished clearing the snow of four cars in the street (parents, brothers, mine, plus our elderly next door neighbours and their steps) and a light drizzle of rain has started to fall.

But at least the steps and cars won't freeze overnight, even if my fingers feel like their on fire.

No good deed goes unpunished, and all that. ;)

Yesterday when I got up it was -5º, but there was no snow.

This morning I'm woken up at 5AM by some idiot setting the fire alarm off, and I (thankfully) look out my window before I walk outside. There was snow everywhere, and it was still coming down heavily. Needless to say I put on some warm clothes, and laughed at the people who came outside in the pyjamas.

I woke up to more snow.

It wasn't enough to stop me getting into work (boo!), but it's forecast to get heavier in the afternoon, maybe as much as 6 inches (yeah!).

:D
