lifeform chair

I just checked out that chair, i really liked it. Have you received it yet? If so, how is it?

Also, has anyone tried out Steelcase's Leap or Think chairs? Or the nightingale CXO?

Any opinions on these chairs will help me a great deal.

Thanks!

hello,

my back aches, and it's three in the morning, and i want... finally... a darn good office computer chair.

not something completely wacky... just the finest office computer chair.

hard to find concrete stuff online, whats your advice?

thanks,
r.

I bought a chair at Office Max that is awesome. And cheap. It's a Sealy. Yeah, the mattress people.

I've been known to sit here for 12+ hours at a time thanks to homework/gaming, and it puts up with me.

Nope, haven't received it yet. I never thought of buying a $2,000 chair before, but I did like it when I tried it. Couldn't find any reviews of the chair, so I had to take a leap of faith.

You can go to any Relax the Back store and try it out. Virtually the entire thing is cushioned out of that Tempur Pedic type material. Then you get to pick the fabric and color combinations. I think there is a no questions asked return policy as well if you don't like it the first couple of weeks. The whole thing is guaranteed for life, except for the fabric, unless you pick the premium leather.

I just couldn't bring myself to spend the same amount of cash as an iMac on a chair lol :D

Well...if your gonna spend $1000+ on an iMac, I would expect you would be sitting infront of it for a long time....wouldn't it simply make sence that the chair is just as important as having the iMac

I tried the Aeron and I thought it was ok, but looked a bit ghetto. I recently put down a deposit for this badboy in all black:

Mine should arrive in 2-4 weeks. I was much more impressed with the feel of this chair. Anybody have any long term experience with this chair?

Sheesh, talk about looking "a bit ghetto!" That chair may be comfortable to sit in but really is not the most attractive I've ever seen. Thanks, I'll stick with my Aeron!

Yeah, that's an unfortunate color combination they picked. I'm assuming they did that to show how you can customize it to your liking. When I ordered mine, they went through different books of swatches to let me pick the combo I liked. I went with the normal black. I'll take pics if people are interested when I get the chair.

i have the allsteel #19. I think its great although my computer setup would be considered unorthodox.

I’ve got the Humanscale Freedom in the UK—it’s very comfortable, and definitely better for my posture than the ‘back chair’ I previously had: one of those rolling chairs ones with no back, where you kneel forward onto a lower ‘shelf’ (for want of a better word). I think those particular chairs are probably better if you’re not as tall as I (6'3").

I ordered my Humanscale Freedom chair through compuhealth.co.uk: I originally contacted Humanscale direct, and they put me in touch with the dealer. I had a happy experience ordering over the phone, and the chair then took about five weeks to be made in their factory in Ireland and shipped to me.

Looking for Experienced Opinion on the Lifeform

Well, this is a five year later reply so hopefully those of you who posted about the Lifeform still have this as a subscription. I'm considering one of those chairs, but I had a bad experience with the CXO. The CXR chair is also made out of memory foam, but memory foam started breaking down after about one year of heavy use and went from being a very comfortable all-day chair to being one that you can only sit in for a few hours at a time.

Given that, I'm a little bit concerned about buying any chair that is also padded from memory foam, but I do have to say that the Lifeform chair seems like an entirely different animal than the CXO chair.

Hi,
I've been looking at the lifeform chair. Out of interest how have you liked it 5-6 years on? Thanks!
Jat.

if I didn't say the Ikea "Markus" I would be crazy.

AMAZING chair, but that's my two cents.

Have you ever tried any of the famous ones? How good is the lumbar support?

I am also looking to make an investment this year. Getting the chair and then a new iMac...

I have this at work, and I like it very much:

Any suggestion for an equivalent chair at a lower price?

Anyone familiar with these?

I've been through several of the "internet special" chairs and I can tell you from experience that they aren't worth it. Every single one of the seat cushions wear out and end up hurting when sitting for an extended period of time. The problem is the cheap foam they use in the seat cushions. It just doesn't hold up over time. You end up feeling the wooden base jabbing into your butt bone.

Even the expensive ones don't hold up as well as you'd like if foam is the only thing that's making it comfortable. You can mostly write off just about any chair you can get at the retail office stores.

If properly designed, your chair doesn't need to be plushly padded to be comfortable. I'm a fan of the Zody chair, which is only lightly padded, but sculpted to allow you to put weight on the areas of your butt that are most tolerant to weight bearing.

I recently injured my low back in a way that makes it uncomfortable to sit without some padding so I bought a memory foam cushion that I place on top of my Zody chair. It works out well and I have the best of both worlds and if the memory foam doesn't hold up after a year or two, I can buy another one instead of having an entire seat pan to replace or even the whole chair.

I saw that exact chair about a year ago going for under $400 used at an office supply overstock/liquidator shop. You probably won't get that lucky, but you should see if there are any Steelcase distributors near you. I've found that with these high end chairs, the distributors often can give you a better price than the online discounters can.

I purchased my Aeron somewhere around 2000. I used it for many years and then stuffed it into storage. I pulled it out last year and found one of the pieces broken. My local Herman Miller fixed everything free of charge. I highly recommend it.

I used to like the Aerons back when they were the only game in town, but there's much better seating available now. My best results have come with the ErgoHuman chair. Unfortunately, they are not as goo as they once were. The one I have at home is a couple years older than the one at the office and other than replacing the wheels, it is perfect. The V2 at the office had had several parts great. Then again I am 300lbs and hard on chairs. It's also a bunch less money than the Aeron. Also has a lifetime warranty, but reports are not the best for customer service. I do know they sent me a whole set of wheels when I asked for one.
