The other option is to just say it got scratched while doing sometime adventurous. If you care about scratches there is only one option for you and its stainless steel.

Yes, half right. According to Apple: Titanium strikes the perfect balance between weight, ruggedness, and corrosion resistance.Titanium was chosen more for the weight (lack of) than the strength.
If that sounds wrong I don't want to be right. You can rub that right out
That sounded wrong
Just because you didn't see any scratches doesn't mean that the SS doesn't scratch; it does. That is why a lot of people on here take time to buff the scratches out.The SBSS would beg to differ with you. My first one was immaculate after 22 months of getting bashed and banged working on my car, bikes, motorcycle, etc.
I think many people on here are trying to treat the Ultra as a fashion statement watch. Otherwise, the complaining about an exercise watch getting a scratch doesn't make any sense to me.But the ultra is made for the abuse let the battle scars flow . Who cares if its $799
Looks like the Ti has pushed away from the crystal...
Yeah, I thought the same thing. What's up with that? Is there a screen protector on it that makes it look like that? It caught my attention long before the scratch.
I didn't even notice the scratch, my eyes went right to that Ti crystal gap...
Sorry should have mentioned that, it's just a screen protector. Thanks for pointing that out, I updated my original post. There is no gap. There’s a darker area which is the raised edge of the Ti case and there’s a screen protector.
Nah I'll just leave it. With the bead-blasted looking finish I'm honestly not sure if it could be buffed out and not end up with a glossy finish. Probably have to resort to what that one guy did with a Dremel tool to his Ultra to make a brushed finish lol.Sorry to hear that. Hopefully you can buff it out. Durability still worries me. I’ve yet to bang it against a door, but it’s only a matter of time. Previously my SS have always withstood that sort of thing with no issues whatsoever. I am going to make a decision, but seeing this helps
Let me know if you can buff it out. That may help me too ha!
Honestly in person from more than a few inches away it's not visible. After I smacked my wrist on the door I immediately examined it overly closely and found the scratch. That almost looks like a hairline crack, not a scratch, the way it meanders roughly. Hopefully not; photos can be deceptive.
Get a life dude. My original post is self explanatory, literally just sharing my experience.Ok, and what do you want US to do about it?
Take it to Apple and complain, maybe?
Link It was cheap and looks fine, can't speak to the durability just yet. I'm not sure if I'll keep it on long term, maybe I'll peel it off after the honeymoon phase is over 🤣Where did you get the screen protector and are you satisfied with it?
I think you might be confusing the silver stainless with the DLC coated Space Black. For all intents and purposes, it does NOT scratch in normal use - very much unlike the silver. And if you did manage to somehow scratch the SBSS, it won’t buff out like the silver.Just because you didn't see any scratches doesn't mean that the SS doesn't scratch; it does. That is why a lot of people on here take time to buff the scratches out.
Or Ceramic… it’s a pity Apple doesn’t make those anymore. Ceramic will crack rather than scratch on impact though. If you care about scratches there is only one option for you and its stainless steel.
It adds character. Says me who owns one 😁"It add's character" says everyone who doesn't own one.
Ceramic is better for a Watch for every day, obviously you don’t need to use a hammer on it. Personally I use the Ceramic for heavy works, and the soft aluminum (just ‘cause it’s gold/copper and for me it’s a beauty) for other purpose.Or Ceramic… it’s a pity Apple doesn’t make those anymore. Just thought I’d share my experience with the Ultra. I bumped my watch up against a doorknob and got my first scratch. My previous series 3 was black anodized aluminum and had plenty of scratches but nothing major. I have to say I’m a little surprised the titanium scratches so easy, but with the big protruding bezel there to protect the screen, I suppose it’s working as intended. Oh well, embrace the scratches everyone, it gives it some character 🤣
Note: That ridge you see on the glass is a screen protector.
I’ve owned ever single SS and/or Ceramic version since the original Apple Watch. I’ve never seen a scratch on the sapphire glass - im not super hard on my watches, but I do occasionally bang into doors/gym equipment. I’ve heard its possible to scratch them, but you really need to be hard on the display; that looks like a pretty bad scratch…Well... Just this morning I noticed my first F*CKING screen scratch! Sitting in doors, in a vet exam room, with good overhead lighting. Unbelievable. I would happily take a case scratch. I've had the watch for 12 days now. Previously I had a Stainless Steel Series 4 for 3 years (still have it) --> FLAWLESS. 3 years of day to day, smacking against door handles, volunteer firefighting, MOVING from one state to another, working on both cars, gardening, home DIY... Literally flawless... This f*cking Ultra, after not even 2 weeks I have a decent scratch on it. And there's no mark or scratch on the case anywhere in line with that scratch (to indicate that it was related).
I'm so pissed off. Considering returning it on Saturday (14 day mark). I won't be able to get an immediate replacement because all variations seem to be at least 2-3 weeks out. I wonder what my chances are that the store would replace? I know the scratch is MY doing... I "accept responsibility" for the scratch... but wow my ****ing SS Series 4 last 3 years with ZERO scratches. I work from home. I've been setting up home networking, unpacking boxes. I haven't even worked on the cars, cut the grass, or done anything that I can imagine would cause a scratch like this.
I certainly hope your screen holds up scratch free for as long as possible, if not for the life of your Watch Ultra! Thanks for sharing.

Good luck, but you probably had to smack something hard - or it was there from the beginning? I’ve never seen or heard of a sapphire Apple Watch scratching with no major impact. That’s crazy and maybe a defective screen.Right??? That's why I'm so confused and annoyed lol... I had my SS Series 4 for 3 years, and 100% smacked it against doors, door handles, and many other things... And wore it through all sorts of activities. If I take it outside in the sun, I see literally zero scratches.
I feel sh*tty doing it, but I think I'm going to return it. I mean I'll take it to the store and see what they say. Probably won't say much other than "would you like to return it?"... And then I'll just re-order it and hope I have better luck with the next one. I'll probably keep it for ~2 years at least, and I don't want to be looking at that scratch for the next 2 years man 🤦♂️.
Thanks for your reply 😄.
Dang! I'm sorry that happened to you! I appreciate you sharing though, now I don't feel so silly using a screen protector on a sapphire screen...Well...
