I ordered my Apple Watch Ultra, large with the green Alpine loop, just a few minutes after they went live on the site. I was very excited for the Sep 23 delivery. I saw an article about how the shipping dates for new orders are slipping into October now, so I went to check my own order, but I only saw my recent AirPods Pro 2 order. I have never purchased an Apple Watch before, but I have purchased a few tens of thousands of dollars worth of Macbook Pros and iPhones over the past decade through the Apple Store. I put the Watch and AirPods on my Apple card.
Watch order placed Sept 7 was cancelled on Sept 10. The email I received about it said:
One or more items in your recent online order exceeded the purchase quantity limits and has been canceled. Please check your Order Status page for more information. |
(the Order Status page had no additional information)
Possibly of note is that I chose the "finance" option for the Watch, so basically you pay the $74.91 sales tax up-front then pay monthly installments at 0% interest. I still see the old charge for my first order as "Pending" and I see both my old and new Watch orders as Monthly Installments in my Apple Wallet app.
I contacted Apple via chat support and the rep couldn't do anything for me aside from telling me the same information that I got in the email, then opening up a real case with their internal support system. They mentioned I should expect to hear back within 3-5 business days via email. I very much doubt that they'll re-instate my place in the order queue, so I just went ahead and placed a new order, not wanting to get even further along in the waitlist. I'll post back here if they do actually reply and do something useful.
The AirPods order is fine, and I got that one in also about 5 minutes after the store page went live, around 5:15am Pacific.
Frustrating.
