System is giving a reason as order exceeding limits, but no one at apple seems to know what that means in relation to a single apple watch ultra order. (normally related to education orders or whatever where you can only order x number of devices).

Multiple people are having this issue as per them, so check your orders.

They claim they can't fix, and can't get it sent out by the original expected date.

My order seems okay for the 23rd

That's odd. Did they miscalculate their inventory ?

Just checked mine, still under processing.

Signed up to say this. Ordered 5 minutes after they opened up on Friday and received an email around 2PM eastern Today Sept.11 saying my order limit was exceeded, I only ordered one.

First time coming back to Apple in 10 years, I'm already salty.
Sorry to hear that.

Did you apply student discount to your order?

I have a later ship date at end of October but fortunately my order is showing "we're preparing your order."

EDIT: I cancelled my order for 'end of October' after learning I could order from Amazon and get it next Tuesday (Sept 27). Which irks me a bit - how come Amazon gets product to sell before Apple fulfills first day orders from loyal customers?

Actually now that I think about it again, since you mentioned its your first purchase since 10 years, I think Apple might have implemented a system to cancel potential "scalpers" orders.

There is only limited quantity of Apple watch Ultra available for the holiday season. So I'd assume they run algorithm on Apple IDs of buyers to check if they are actual active Apple users or throwaway accounts for scalpers who will sell it later at ebay for higher margins. So the fact that you haven't bought anything in 10 years is a red alert for such system (if it exists).

Literally no basis for this. Take off the tin foil hat.

It's an industry norm, has been implemented in many instances in recent history

Last year NVIDIA did something similar to combat scalpers buying GPUs off their own official website. Valve did the same with their VR headset sales.

Scalpers are a serious threat to the tech industry.

No student discount on anything.

I purchased an M1 iPad Pro earlier this year and over time found myself saying this would be the year to switch back. I was a Nexus/Pixel fan. I ordered a 14 Max pro and Air Pods pro 2 as well when Pre-Orders went live, No issues with those.

Oh well. Wonder if I can go to a local store and snag one on the 23rd.

Have you checked with your carrier?

That's not a bad idea. I haven't picked a carrier for my 14 yet. I'm currently on Google Fi so I will be switching.

Time to decide which pill to swallow... Blue, Red or Pink?
Depends on your area. Most carriers have similar coverage and speeds nowadays. I’m with V. It works very well for me. Pricey, though. Look at each carriers plans. Most will have free “add-ons”. My account gives me free Apple Music, Apple Arcade, Dis/Hu/ESPN+, 50% dsc on watch line, etc.

My order was canceled as well due to "exceeding the purchase quantity limits". I assumed it was because I ordered the Ultra and canceled the order twice before getting it right (1. Ordered the wrong band 2. Forgot to add my trade in to the purchase). Quite annoyed, just hoping the same thing doesn't happen to my iPhone and Airpods orders. Hopefully I can get one in store on the 23rd.

I had the same happen. I posted a twitter thread about the details. I own multiple apple products and purchase them as well. It was only the Ultra that was canceled. I think they are low on supply so this was a way for them to make room.

I have an order confirmation, only ordered once, and it appears my order doesn't exist when I click on the order confirmation number in the email. I am told that the order number doesn’t match the Apple ID I’m logged in on. Since I only have one Apple ID (is two even possible?) and have checked on multiple devices (phone and iPad) Im not sure what is going on but I’ve never had this happen before.

ETA: It’s not on my orders page either. Guess I’ll find out on the 23rd.

Just came here to post this. I have the same exact issue. Went to order a case for my new phone and found it strange that my AW Ultra wasn’t showing up in my recent orders.

Spoke to Apple chat and the rep assured me that they see the order on their end and it is still scheduled for a 09/23 delivery date. Very strange. Hope it’s just a minor hiccup in the system.

For everyone who's ordered is getting cancelled, what time did you guys order? I ordered mine like 8 hours after the event & mine is still showing as 23rd delivery. I just double checked the separate band I ordered too & that is still on track as well. Maybe the band that was selected in the initial order is what's causing the watches to be cancelled.

I ordered my Apple Watch Ultra, large with the green Alpine loop, just a few minutes after they went live on the site. I was very excited for the Sep 23 delivery. I saw an article about how the shipping dates for new orders are slipping into October now, so I went to check my own order, but I only saw my recent AirPods Pro 2 order. I have never purchased an Apple Watch before, but I have purchased a few tens of thousands of dollars worth of Macbook Pros and iPhones over the past decade through the Apple Store. I put the Watch and AirPods on my Apple card.

Watch order placed Sept 7 was cancelled on Sept 10. The email I received about it said:
One or more items in your recent online order exceeded the purchase quantity limits and has been canceled. Please check your Order Status page for more information.

(the Order Status page had no additional information)

Possibly of note is that I chose the "finance" option for the Watch, so basically you pay the $74.91 sales tax up-front then pay monthly installments at 0% interest. I still see the old charge for my first order as "Pending" and I see both my old and new Watch orders as Monthly Installments in my Apple Wallet app.

I contacted Apple via chat support and the rep couldn't do anything for me aside from telling me the same information that I got in the email, then opening up a real case with their internal support system. They mentioned I should expect to hear back within 3-5 business days via email. I very much doubt that they'll re-instate my place in the order queue, so I just went ahead and placed a new order, not wanting to get even further along in the waitlist. I'll post back here if they do actually reply and do something useful.

The AirPods order is fine, and I got that one in also about 5 minutes after the store page went live, around 5:15am Pacific.

Frustrating.

I found the fix to this issue. It was driving me crazy since yesterday and even after chat assured me the order was still good to go, I didn’t believe them so I did some digging. This what you do:

1. Copy the order number from your email.
2. Go to your orders page and scroll down towards the bottom, after your last order, you should see, “Don’t see your order? Find it now”
3. Click “Find it now” and paste the order number in the order number field.
4. Enter your phone number and associated AppleID email address and click “Continue”
5. Your Apple Watch Ultra order should pop up and from there it should give you the option to add to your AppleID account.
6. Add it to your AppleID and it will now show up on your orders page with the proper delivery date (Sept 23 in my case and apparently yours as well).
7. Expect an email from Apple Store a few minutes later saying that the Apple Watch Ultra order has been added to your account.

Thats an interest observation. Mine wasn't listed originally when I preordered, it appeared later (automatically though).
I wonder if there was some store issues.

Yeah apparently there’s a lot of issues going around with this watch. I wouldn’t have bothered checking since I got the email confirmation but I placed a separate order for some accessories and noticed the Ultra wasn’t on my orders page.

I can’t show what the screen said since I fixed the issue but it popped up in big bold letters that said something to the affect of “This Order Is Not Associated With This Apple ID. Sign Out And Sign Back In With The AppleID Used To Make This Purchase.”

The preorder was a week ago and deliveries are supposed to go out in less than a week so I was getting a little nervous that nothing was showing lol

That happens with me often. I have two IDs since one is from iTunes days and the other iCloud. I wish I could combine but that that is another story and will never happen. You did the thing I was going to suggest, search your order on the page and tell it to add it to your login. It’s just this way at times.

I still see my order. I originally placed the order with the trail band with a date in November. Realized I could get the watch sooner with the Alpine, I canceled and ordered again. I did the same with my wife’s phone. We had her setup for the plus but after thinking about it, I ordered the Pro Max. She would have asked why I could do certain things she could not and for the price difference I didn’t want that question for the next two years.

Point is, not sure the orders were canceled for any of the reasons where I did the same and no issues. I hope they make it right for you guys that were canceled or at least provide a good reason for it that makes sense.
