The "All that matters is whether or not YOU like it or not" response is overly simplistic. Think instead.

I might like vertical clothing stripes, but all my friends and coworkers may observe that vertically striped clothing make me look thin and anemic. My asking for fashion advice may help lead me to clothing choices that better complement my body type.

I might like horizontal clothing stripes, but all my friends and coworkers may observe that horizontally striped clothing makes me look too chubby. My asking for fashion advice may help lead me to clothing choices that better complement my body type.

Same for choice of watch style.

That said, for me personally the AW Ultra is a tool only, so how it might look matters zero. And to me the OP's watch looks fine, but I am obviously not a person to come to for fashion advice.
So for you it’s “simple” yet you felt compelled to lecture me about fashion and “feedback” from “influencers”? Whatever …

Just got to try on the Ultra. I'm not certain about the size of it. Does it look too big on my wrist? Thank you
It looks perfectly fine. Also, my opinion should not matter at all in your choice. Why then am I posting this reply; don't mind me. Take care.

I think you'd get away with that, but then its a dive watch in essence so they are usually oversized. I've tried the Ultra on a few times when friends of mine have had them and its far to big for my wrists, its almost as wide as my entire wrist. At least in your images you can see wrists each side which is fine IMO. The Ultra also stands off the wrist quite a way which makes it look ridiculous on smaller people. I wonder if Apple will consider producing this watch in a smaller version in future just to allow a wider range of people to try it? Seems strange how they've picked larger people for this type of product, but thats Apple, inclusive in some regards and not in others.

This sort of picture/perspective is less than ideal in order to form an educated opinion as optical distortion makes the Watch look bigger than in real life. If possible, have someone take a picture from a little further apart (or take one yourself in front of a mirror).

No. The face is smaller than the width of your wrist. Especially since photos are going to enlarge something closer to the lens.

Those bands like the gray one always make the watch look larger. I have the ultra. You’ve got about the same size wrists as me. I ended up using a standard apple silicone band and it feels and looks much slimmer.

I worried about the size for about the first 2 weeks. Wondering if it’s was large or not. I’ve worn mine now since the original debuted and I have had 0 comments about my watch - that it’s big, that it’s fancy or anything (which is how I prefer it).

I think you can pull it off. The battery life is SO much nicer than the standard watch. The screen is nice. I actually prefer the look to the standard watch. But it is pricy for a watch. I’ll admit that. Get it if you like it and can afford it.

I forgot to mention in my reply, the band makes a big difference. I had difficult pulling off the Ultra casually with the sport bands, even a Hermes band I own. Once I got the Nomad titanium band, I totally fell in love. Make sure you choose the right band for your needs.

It's not just about style.

Obviously, I'm not even going to entertain the idea that there's such a thing as "wrong" style.

But it also comes down to proportions which impact both ergonomics and style.

I and several friends and colleagues have wanted and tried Ultras but all found they stuck out from our bodies a bit too much which leads to a bit more snagging and hitting things than with flatter watches.

I also see most posts like OP's where they only take photos directly from above which is not enough to assess how big it actually looks.

We'd need several shots -Like with the full arm, a body shot, different angles.

Also, most people won't ever be standing in the same spot looking at your arm at the same distances as you are with your iPhone unless you're hugging them from behind.

You need to have someone else take these photos to show how others would see you.

yes it's a chunky watch. I always thought I had small wrists. I think they're 6.5 inches, I can't remember

I have 6.5 inch wrists and it's a bit big on mine... my bigger issue when I tried it on was the weight and how thick it was, I don't think I could get used to it. That said, when I'm diving I wear a Shearwater Teric all day which is even larger, but I guess it's because it's sorta expected for a dive watch.

I would have guessed yours are closer to 6.75". IMO it looks good on you with the second band. It your wrists were just a tad smaller it probably wouldn't work though.

I agree about the thickness to the watch. Can't imagine it fitting under a shirt cuff. Just measured my wrist there, I'm just under 7"

Not really too large, but if you like the features and the rugged feel of it get it. Here’s one on my 5.9 inch wrist, it is even bigger and too large than when I tried on a 45mm S9. Band still fits at the smallest size. I primarily wear a 40mm Apple Watch.
⌚️ U2 with trail loop.

I've had my Ultra 2 for ten months, and wear it on my 14cm/5,5" wrists. I thought it looked silly big in photos from when I tried it on in the Apple Store, but in real life I'm very happy. Personally I think it looks bulkiest on me with the Ocean band. I love the Alpine bands, which I wear in the small on the 4th from last loop (3rd from last when running), and the trail loop. The sport bands make it quite discreet – as much as a fairly chunky watch can be, admittedly.

At first I did worry about fitting it under cuffs and sleeves, but it turns out I only have one coat that is a bit tight over the wrist. This might be more of a problem for people who wear dress shirts a lot for work, but I don't, and when I do I have several that have 3/4 length or bracelet length sleeves. The only comments I've gotten are from people who ask if I'm happy with it and are considering getting one or already have one themselves, so I guess no one finds it visually offensive on my dainty little lady wrists
