How about a brain sammich!?

Yeah, I made the mistake of clicking through a few links on that earlier wikipedia entry.

Actually, maybe I should bookmark this thread and view it before I'm about to go grocery shopping. That way I won't overspend on food I don't need!

I agree with Max, is that actually real?

It's as real as it gets. You can find canned brains on grocery store shelves in the American south. I lived in Atlanta for a short time and sent many cans to my friends up north. Haven't managed to find them in the SF Bay Area... not that I've looked very hard, mind you.

BTW, it's no coincidence that I'm currently reading World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War.

I don't think I could ever be a vegitarian. I wouldn't know what to eat. I mean I have trouble coming up with things to eat on Fridays during Lent.

I was fish-a-tarian for about 10 years but about a year ago started getting weird infections that wouldn't clear up (ear infection followed by bladder infection followed by strep throat, etc). My doctor told me I was almost certainly missing some essential amino acids because of my diet and recommended that I eat meat a few times a week.

I eat chicken about twice a week now, and will have red meat about once a month. My health is much better. Switching was a complete non-issue, I basically just started having chicken one day and it wasn't a big deal.

I think once your body is ready to eat meat again it won't be a big deal at all.

I like chicken, turkey, beef, lamb and fish, but severely limit consumption of pork, shellfish, and other "specialty" meats. I stay away from offal meats such as liver, kidney (and brains).

There's a few Mexican places around here which have dishes which contain brains in them, sesso I think they call it. The texture is just like it looks but it doesn't quite taste like anything else. Didn't care for it too much actually. Tongue on the other hand...

ewww I'm a carnivor, but if I was going to start meat again I would not start with McDonald's.

I highly recommend going non vegie, but do it ORGANIC.

try buying meats from whole foods or by going to an organic restaurant. Don't eat McDonalds. eat food that's healthy for your body. wasnt that part of why you went vegetarian in the first place?

Yeah, I second the organic meats thing. They just taste better.
