Unable to Track By Reference - Anyone else?

Hi All,

I have an iPhone X preorder (still slated for November 3rd delivery) - but no combination of order number or phone number will allow me to track it.

I'm located in Southern California, preorder was for iPhone X, Silver, 256gb for Verizon.

I just wanted to make sure that I'm entering the UPS Reference correctly. It should either be the phone number associated with my shipping address OR the W123456789 order number. In this example, should I be entering W1234567 (and omit the 8 &9)? If so, this has not worked for me at all and I'm getting worried.

Has anyone else encountered this problem?

It could be that you have Fedex shipping it..

Is that a possibility? I ordered via Apple Store App - and not through the carrier (Verizon). Does Fedex follow the same reference number syntax in order to track?

Well most 11/3 deliveries are stateside now so Apple may start finally updating their site with the tracking info soon

Try searching by the first 8 characters of the Order Number. So it would be W1234567. Also, include your zip code.

It’s cause Fedex is shipping it I bet. They use both. No you can’t search fedex with order number but you can sign up for fed ex delivery manager that will tell
You when a package is coming to your address..

I have never once had success tracking by reference, but it shows up in my ups my choice account.

Doesn't show up on my UPS My Choice account either. Last year when I ordered my 7+ JB 256gb, I did have luck using the reference number.

What's going on this year??

Millions of orders all going through at the same time. No matter how well you plan you will always have lag, glitches problems. Start to worry after Friday if you don’t get it. I had my phone in my hand one year then I got tracking... I’m sure it’s fine

Shouldn't your shipment range date go to 11/03 not 11/01? That's probably why it cant be located.

Tried that too and it didn't work. Tried reference lookup for the case that is shipping and it doesn't work. There are some reference numbers from the UPS site on the case's shipping information page. There reference numbers work on the lookup page but they don't have any commonality with my phone number or the Apple order number.

The reference number never worked 100% for everybody.

I can’t remember exactly, but I think the majority of phones using UPS/ref# combo and working were phones still in China that didn’t have a tracking number assigned?

Update: My order changed from Nov 3rd delivery to Nov 15th - Nov 17th.

I called Apple and they said that a majority of folks will be delayed now as shipments have "gone missing".

WTF?!

I was sure this was probably one of the top 10 things NOT to say to a customer over the phone.

Are there any Apple Reps that can provide additional information that can be corroborated?

My conspiracy tin-foil hat says it got reassigned to all those people that glitched and complained to Apple. Now they took my Nov 3 iPhone X and gave it to someone else.

I tried every combination and it didn't work. Now with a delivery date push 2 weeks back - this must be the reason I couldn't find it in the first place.

I'm IUP too.

Most likely I got shafted by someone in that other thread that complained about his 11/15 due date, and Apple gave away my order in order to make him happy.
