Unable to Update to Watch OS3

Yes. IOS 10 is required for Watch OS3... which also means that you won't be able to downgrade your phone to iOS 9 and still have it work with your watch on Watch OS3.
[doublepost=1473812245][/doublepost]I was on the GM Beta til this morning as well, and the WatchOS3 update didn't show up. As others in this thread have noted, the solution is:
Uninstall the Beta Profile from both watch and iPhone. Restart both watch and iPhone. Make sure iPhone is running iOS10. Check for updates in the Watch app, while the watch is on and charging.
It took about 20-25 minutes to download and install for me, on an original series Apple Watch. No hangs or stalls. Works great! Good luck, all...
ok found the issue.
I had the beta profile installed on the watch too. I was unaware of that, though I do recall trying to install the beta.
removed the profile restarted the watch (again) and 3.0 is now available to download.

You need ios 10 I was on iOS 9 and the update didn't actually pop up until I upgraded to iOS 10.
It's taking way too long, 4 hours remaining lol.
I was also having a problem downloading OS3. It kept showing 2.2.1 so I went into the phone app and deleted the beta profile. Restarted the phone and watch. It's now showing the update. I didn't realize (or forgot) that I had the beta profile on my watch. The phone has 10.0.1.

Yea mine has been downloading for the past hour and still says it has an hour remaining.
I didn't install any beta versions on my watch, but I did install the iOS 10 beta on my phone. I updated my phone to the IOS 10 release version but it keeps telling me Watch OS 3 beta 6 is available.. I removed the beta profiles from my phone and my watch and rebooted them several times already but nothing changed, still no release update found..
I fixed my issue by unpairing and repairing my watch as new, after that the release version showed up instead of beta 6
