@indibil if you have not already done so, I would contact @dosdude1, I happened to stumble across some nice internal apple documentation which confirmed that external L2 or L3 cache etc has to explicitly be enabled by properties set in Firmware, but thankfully this document also provides details what those values are, which offsets you need to change etc, so I have of course provided this info to Colin, since he is much more apt at BootROM hacking then I am, so yeah I would talk with him about getting your BootROM patched, obviously before doing so you will want to make sure you have a backup of your BootROM and some means to externally flash it back to the EEPROM if a bad flash happens for whatever reason

@LightBulbFun thank you very much for your input. I have tried to contact @dosdude1 several times without success. I assume that now that he has the information, he can try it himself on an iMac, and if he explains how, I can repeat it on mine.

I don't have the skills to modify a BootROM.

Thanks!

I can't say when, but I plan to resume this L3 update. I've had it saved, and it doesn't seem to be working very well. Maybe there's some hardware that's not right. I need to check what I added or removed.

I also want to test out some ideas I've had. Of course, if I need to make changes to the firmware, I'll need @dosdude1 's help; I won't be able to do it myself.

I haven't had much time to do any of this in the past few months, so I'm just getting back to it now.
