Hey I am 17 years of age and in 4 months will turn 18. I have created some simple apps already. I want to publish these apps in the App Store now. I searched online and the legal age to create your own Apple Developer Account is 18. However, if I lie my age and put 18 or 19, and upload apps to the app store, how can this affect me in the long run?

Don’t lie. Wait until you are 18 to submit. You could get into legal trouble attempting to enter into a legal contract underage, especially if there were a claim to be made against you. You also don’t want to risk bring banned due to fraud.

Have a parent, or someone else over 18, open an account and you can use that. Once you are over 18 you can get your own account and transfer the apps to that account. There are legal documents that need to be signed and a connection to a bank account for payments.

When you transfer apps to your account, do you need to pay the developer fees again?

I don't think you pay to transfer apps from one account to another. But you will have to pay for the second account. You can arrange for the first account to have only a month left, then create the new account and transfer the apps, then let first account expire. You can search for details on how to transfer apps to another account.

Agree. It's only 4 months. Use that time to polish those apps and make them even better.

I published them under my parent's name for a couple of years when I was 16/17. However, this wasn't without issue - I had to call Apple a couple of times (can't quite remember why, maybe because iTunes Connect wasn't working properly), and even after explaining who I was and why I wasn't the account holder, they suspended the account and it took a while to get it back. I probably should've just lied about who I was, but I just didn't think it would be a big issue.

I'd just wait until you're 18, it's not long now. You'd have to pay again anyway if you then wanted to open your own account to publish under your name.

Good luck!

I wish i could wait. But I am applying for something and the deadline is in January. One of the recommendation is to have an app or website of some sort that you have coded. So i need to get cracking
