In the end it's your money. If you want it buy it. PERIOD. F**k everyone else.
But I’m 48, I work pretty hard, I earn decent money, I don’t have children . . . where’s the harm? Is it wrong to want nice things? And both the new phone and new watch are things I’ll use every day. In those terms, each is costing me a couple of pounds a day. Less — as Tim Cook said — than some people spend on coffee.
I don’t drink, I rarely eat out, I even more rarely go on foreign holidays ... yet it does feel wasteful to replace something that’s perfectly good.
I’ve semi-persuaded myself I’m doing the world a little good. Someone who can’t afford a new jet black iPhone 7+ is about to get one at a bargain price — maybe a Christmas present for his hardworking kid.
As for charity — I don’t have kids, so there’ll be plenty for charity when I die.
iPhone X costs more than I think it’s worth
The way I see it, it's your money and nobody in here can justify how you spend it, regardless of your lifestyle. But your Post strikes me as if you're looking for justification for others to support your purchasing decisions, so you have some type of affirmation about the amount of Money you spent . I'm not judging you, it's just my take on this. It's just the context I view your Post as. But again, it's your decisions that only matter here, because it's your finances.
I’ve read everyone’s thoughts and I’ve slept on it and made a decision.
I’m really excited about the Hermès AW. It’s stylish and premium and adds something I don’t have on my current AW (i.e. LTE). It feels like a treat I “deserve”.
But the iPhone X feels like an indulgence. I don’t think it’s offering enough over what I have to justify the cost. I’ve cancelled it.
But I will say, the Apple Watch Hermès is really nice. The leather quality of the band is superb and you get exclusive Hermes watch face. The Apple Watch is one my favorite tech gadgets from Apple, enjoy yours also.

You seriously are preferring a ridiculous Hermès 1000$+ Apple watch over an iPhone X? Haha!
Nothing wrong to enjoy what you can buy from what you have earned.Despite telling everyone I wouldn’t buy an iPhone X — to the point that I pretty much believed it myself — I’ve just ordered a 64GB silver one. (Why silver? It’ll match the new Hermes AW3 I’ve also just ordered.)
I cracked when I saw one in real life and discovered it wasn’t the catastrophic disaster some posters had me believing.
I do worry that this is part of an addiction to needing the best Apple products at all times. Less than a year ago I ordered the iPhone 7+ in jet black and thought it was the most beautiful phone I’ve ever seen. What’s changed?

Haha exact same scenario here! I told everyone no way in hell I'd buy an iPhone X (too darn expensive) and still ordered one silver 264 GB last week!Despite telling everyone I wouldn’t buy an iPhone X — to the point that I pretty much believed it myself — I’ve just ordered a 64GB silver one. Not going to lie, somewhat disappointed to see this anticlimactic turn of events... I actually enjoy living vicariously through you guys enjoying your new iPhone Xs.the iPhone X feels like an indulgence. I don’t think it’s offering enough over what I have to justify the cost. I’ve cancelled it.

Life is too short. You work hard you buy things that you love and whatever makes you happy.
