IIRC the display assembly is around 900 bucks in the US, on ebay you can get JUST the back aluminium piece for around 120 new (I'm still thinking of replacing mine:rolleyes:)
that is of course, if you want to do the job yourself....


And aluminium is what 35p a pound?
 
I wasn't able to take it in until today...Crazy I know, I just haven't gotten around to it because I don't live close to an Apple store and it didn't seem too urgent.

The genius was kind enough to make a one time out of warranty exception. :apple::apple::apple: They're replacing the entire back panel and trying to clean up the lower base at absolutely no charge to me. I brought in my incase cover and honestly explained that I had dropped it while inside the case. According to the documentation, it would have cost $1,140 if they hadn't covered it. :eek:
