Well Apple are still refusing to do anything about it.

The OFT have told me my only option now is to start legal proceedings against Apple.

:(

On a side note, bloody senior technician annoyed me. I got put through to one of them and he asked me to describe the problem, he also asked if it happened every time I play a game and I said yes. He then proceeded with the usual line that everyone else had given me, they are investigating. Just before the phone call ended he said "Enjoy playing your games", seriously

Am I over reacting? I don't think it is unreasonable to expect this problem to have been solved now 6 months after release, especially since other people claim to have had their machines repaired.

So this is still on going.

After waiting another month to give Apple a chance to resolve the issue they are apparently aware of I contacted the OFT again. They said to write to Apple again giving them 7 days to respond, which I did. They received the letter on the 20th of May and I finally got a phone call from the on the 19th June, once again saying the very same thing although this time I had a moan to the customer service rep who called me, asking why others have had it fixed. She put me through to a tech who said they won't replace my Logic Board as they aren't sure that will fix the problem (again, even though others have had theirs fixed) but he sent me a "CaptureData" app (basically something that archives up all the log files) and asked me to send him the output. I questioned what good this would do as 99% of the time it only happened in Windows and I'm sure any entries in my Mac log files will be gone by now as I haven't been able to get it to happen in OS X for ages now, it just gets very very very hot until it starts slowing down. I sent him the logs regardless but haven't heard anything back since.

On the 5th of June I also wrote to the Executive Relations email address, but I haven't had any form of response at all.

Any further ideas? They are still flatly refusing that there is anything they can do about it, all the while people on the own site are saying they've had it fixed.

I'm going to start phoning round authorised service providers this weekend to see how much they would charge to replace the logic board outside of warranty so I have some idea of what to put on my claims court application which I am reluctantly concluding is all they have left me with now.

My take and many others with me is that there is no third party to be blamed, it's Apple's own boot camp drivers that are bad. Example the fan and temperature control is not functioning as it should under boot camp. Fact is that Apple advertise boot camp as a fully functional program.

But I have also had friends with heat related instability issues under windows that been stone walled by Apple with made up reasons so that Apple can slip by not backing up their own product.

It's all about cost limitation. But we know this from before. We still love Apple's products but not the customer relations here in Europe. Funny thing is that we read that customer relations is very good in the US.

well maybe this can help you

i had the same problem on mine mbp 2,53 , when i play some games .
i went to a apple official retailer not apple store , and they ask me to show in front of him the exact problem. (they are the experts

i start playing in the apple retailer supervisionized by them and after 15 minutes boom black s of death and they replace everything, all for free and they said apple inform them for the problem.

bbb

File a complaint with the BBB in your area. I had a similar issue with DirecTV (their customer support is abysmal) when they wouldn't honor a rebate. i put in a pretty concise non-emotional complaint and outlined what i wanted. Worked for me, not saying it will work for you. Enough with emails, just make a formal complaint and i believe apple has to respond. I would copy any and all emails you could fit into the complaint.

And :apple: doesn't get BSOD, thats only a Windows thing right? :D

BSOD is Black Screen Of Death in the Mac world.

Tried with my new MBP 15 (Mid 2009). Playing COD4 for about an hour and it's still working. The temperature was high, but not exceeded 70 C. The fan was spinning around 5000RPM.

Either new models improve ventilation or some old models have lemons.

Sorry not help out.
