Universal Control Remains Unavailable in macOS Monterey Beta 10, But Now Has 'Beta' Label

It's very un-apple-like to have live features tagged as Beta. The privacy proxy thingy listed as BETA on a released version of iOS is just weird.

It looks like UC won't work with a non apple external display? I'm running an LG Ultrafine 5K Display of an M1 Air and not seeing the advanced option even after clicking on display settings.

I’m getting the advanced button and the untickable beta buttons on my Dell P2721Q connected via USB-C to my 2020 4TB Intel MacBook Pro running the public beta.

I am on the latest public beta and did a preferences search for Universal Control. It came up, I launched it, and it could see my 2nd Gen iPad Pro (running 15.0.1 at the time. Couldn’t see my new iPad mini though). It connected and launched Universal Control on the iPad. It realigned my displays (was running an LG 5k on USB-C) and I could move the mouse across them, but it threw an error when I tried to rearrange the displays. The Universal Control app stayed up on the iPad with a black screen.

How did you manage to tick the boxes for it?

How can it not be ready? Apple even did a “live” demo of it in they keynote…

Very interested in using my Air as a kind of extended display for my iMac. Even if I can't actually drag things from one to the other, it could still be super useful when combined with iCloud Drive.

How much exactly are you paying for macOS?

Virtually he pays $0 for it. The cost for the software is added to the devices though, so a part of the price for the device goes to software. He does pay for it.

So I patched beta 10 with the plist supplied by Mr Zhang. My setup is 2017 27"-Dell 24" monitor-2017 27". left iMac running off usb-c external ssd. Right iMac internal ssd. I can scroll from left to right through the dell monitor. When I go right to left it skips the dell monitor and goes mac to mac.

Outside of “weird“ safari, I can’t even think of any features added to MacOS that I care about or have even noticed were added and I‘ve been using Monterey as a daily driver since WWDC. This is the strangest release in quite some time. It has been very stable for me though so at least there’s that.

Maybe that's why you find it strange LOL

It doesn't seem to work when using more than one display. I see same setting;'display settings' when I used double displays. If you cut connection of a display, you would see 'advance' option on the other display.
