Brutal mess by Apple. It's insulting to say that you're saving money by not putting them in there. These devices are gonna be used for the next 3 to 5 years on some people. I don't see why they missed putting Wi-Fi seven in them.

Not gonna happen with today’s appleThe article is wrong about MLO as it stands today with WiFi 7 enabled Apple devices. Apple's WiFi 7 chipset on the phones supports MLO but only in MLSR/EMLSR mode. There is no bandwidth aggregation across bands, only seamless/high-speed switching between the bands. This is because there's only one radio and one antenna array.
I'm disappointed in the lack of WiFi 7 on the M4 Pros -- I was hoping to not only see it added but to see full MLMR MLO support and maybe even the return of 3x3.
A laptop is a desktop?Yawn Ethernet is better anyway. Its a desktop run Ethernet youll be happier with lower latency, no radio interference , and consistent throughput
A laptop is a mobile device that most people use with wifi more often than wired, in fact I’d bet most people never plug their laptop into an ethernet cable period
People like you are the reason Apple gets away with these things year after year. For most people buying a laptop is not a one or two year endeavor, not to mention resale value.I wonder how many end users actually have a WiFi 7-capable router? It generally takes years for routers to be upgraded.
I wonder how many end users have an internet connection capable of supporting the full bandwidth offered by WiFi 7?
When it comes to networking, there are many, many factors involved, not just the edge connection. Chances are that Apple has done this research and determined that most users would not be taking advantage of the more expensive WiFi 7 capabilities, and those that need it are often plugging in a hub that has an Ethernet connection.
Not the end of the world for things like this. 99% of users likely wouldn't notice the difference. WiFi 7 is very new.
Oh, the same song as with M3 Pro bandwidth cut from people defending Apple, and it's getting really old. "Apple has done his research, most people don't use 200 GB/s, then it's sensible to cut to 150 and save costs." Curiously, Apple backtracked, and M4 Pro comes with 272 GB/s, because lo and behold, AI needs it.I wonder how many end users actually have a WiFi 7-capable router? Their products are. The company, not so much.Apple is Doomed!™
Interesting. Do you have a link where I can read more about these specifics? didn’t know they don’t use Qualcomm for WiFi I thought they were all bundled together with the 5g modemApple simply don’t have a competent Wifi7 chip made in house to add to these. 160Mhz channel width on 6Ghz for Wifi7 is just shamefully bad. The Wifi performance of our 16 Pro and 15 Pros is also generally poor compared to OnePlus 12. For Mac, Apple still cannot match Intel BE200 or Qualcomm’s QCNCM865 chips which are the best in business currently.
