You've obviously never tried to get hold of anyone who speaks English in Demon Internet customer services...

I don't live in the UK and also don't use Demon Internet so you'd be correct.

Why would use have demon internet

I know it's just a name

If it helps, I've been with BT (now called BT Yahoo  ) for years now and while they've typically had a cap of 30Gb, then 40GB, they've recently informed me that their top package (around £26.99/mth) is now completely unlimited. I've had a quick look on their website and I don't see any small print to suggest they have a 'Fair use policy' like Demon to essentially impose a fixed monthly limit.

You could maybe make some enquiries with BT as it might end up being a better option for you if you're finding yourself going over 50GB/mth with Demon.

Edit - I delved a little deeper and while they do mention a fair use policy on one page, no-where else seems to spell anything out. When I got right into it, the page I went to didn't specify a limit. See here

Comcast cable has a limit of 200G a month, man I though that was bad. 50G? so you can download ubuntu's server DVD a few OS X updates and check your email once a week?

That blows.

I ended up switching to DSL even though the line is slower (I have an older phone line). Because of the crap the cable company was pulling on everyone.

Thanks NATO... might have to look into that option.

synth3tik/janey - I am envious, but I suppose if I had a 200Gbyte/month contract I'd somehow manage to use it and still want more!

A great many UK-based ISPs seem to have a downer on heavy users - personally I'd be prepared to pay a bit more to get a higher transfer limit. I kinda feel like I'm being penalised for knowing how to use my allocation effectively, whereas average users pay through the nose for a level of data transfer that they don't really need.

Wirelessly posted (motorola v3 RAZR (hacked): Opera/8.01 (J2ME/MIDP; Opera Mini/2.0.4062/1662; en; U; ssr))

just wondering, what does the average user use monthly im terms of bandwidth? just with daily macrumors, im's, quite a bit of browsing, 1 or 2 widgets and no downloads?

How do you live in South Africa and have 3G MotoRAZR WAP?

Seems to me the point here is that their ad says 'unlimited' but the small print says '50Gb' - that is false advertising, no? If I were still a resident, i'd sign your petition.. but I've been away too long:( .

In fact, I know that my dad dropped demon pretty quickly when they started pulling some crap or another. I wish I could remember, but he doesn't have anything good to say about them...

makes me glad TWC and AT&T didn't care much about my bandwidth usage whatsoever, and neither did server/hosting providers who were all too happy to charge me for excess bandwidth usage :D
