Agreed. See below.

While planning ahead is a good idea, not calling the company who you will be working with is not a good idea. Out of curiosity, why don't you want your cell company to "notate any of this on my account?"

I don't know if they would use the information against me somehow. I don't know if they would badger me to switch to a shareplan. I just don't want to deal with Verizon's money hungry BS

I speak to Verizon support a lot between my family account and managing a company account. Never had an issue with them pushing any of the grandfathered lines off unlimited. Anytime I had to deal with one of those lines, they were extremely helpful and understood that I wanted to keep unlimited.

My friend George told me you can also get free airfare if you need to fly to a funeral of a relative. Sometimes, you can also get the millage added to your points program, too.

You're right, I'm asking because I'm planning on killing my grandma  MacRumors members say the darnedest things. My question though is does verizon allow single users to use family plans with just one line?

Yes, you can have as many lines as you want on your account. Many customers keep second lines to be able to upgrade yearly. Leave the plan exactly as is and you won't change anything. You can give the other phone to someone else you trust if you want or just not use it.

There are many insensitive people posting here. And I am talking about those that are blasting the original poster for asking. We all die, eventually. And at that point, no matter how much time or love you share with the deceased, you still need to deal with reality.

My time is not that far off and I would be pissed knowing that my children did not handle things right and paid for crap they did not need, like a cell phone.

Anyways, if Gram is off contract, you can easily cancel that line. If under contract, you will need to call and possibly prove she has passed on.

But, like a car loan or mortgage, you may still be obligated. Part of an issue for the estate.

As to droping to a single line on that account, only you can decide. If one of the remaining two ines is $9.99 a month, it might make sense to keep it vs moving to a new plan.

Also - the unlimited data is tied to a phone number. Not to a person. Not to a phone.
