Unlock with Apple Watch not working :(

Hello all,
I recently bought a new Mac Mini (base model 2020), but my AW 4 LTE won't unlock it. When switching profiles it says "unlocking with Apple Watch", then after ten seconds or so it asks me for my password. This happens even when I have the watch next to the computer.

I have restarted the Mac, the watch, turned the setting on the Mac off and on again, no help. Funny thing is, I was able to accept a change in the system preferences by double clicking the side button on the watch yesterday...

Unlock apps on Mac with Watch is broken

So, I love that my Apple Watch can unlock my iMac. I have a very complex password that's annoying to type over and over again. Similarly, I have been enjoying the functionality of unlocking passwords when I go to Safari > Preferences > Passwords I will get a prompt on my watch to double-click...

This feature is really flaky, just is. If you have already followed https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT206995 and tried everything Apple suggests there to no avail you might wanna try resetting Bluetooth on your Mac (Shift+Opt click on Bluetooth icon in MacOS menu bar you find reset under Debug menu item). I found it helps when it starts acting up. For me it works most of the time but sometimes it just doesnt with no indication or apparent reason as to why and I dont value the feature enough to waste time investigating, also bc I suspect I wont be able to fix it myself anyway.

Thanks guys, will (re)try those suggestions in the morning. Used to work rock solid with my MacBook 12“, hoping it can be used again on this machine.
