Cool, that's good to know.
Anyone know if an unlocked Verizon phone will work in Spain? I can't find much info on Spain.
I wanna have an unlocked iPhone 5 that has LTE (that's the best right?) the more I read on this forum about the unlocked Verizon iPhone, the more I get sorta confused. I'll be living between USA and Spain and I have an iPhone 3G which is perfect, but I'm just tired of it being slow and I need to upgrade.
Please help!
T-Mobile isn't using 1900Mhz for LTE. AWS or Band 4 (1700/2100Mhz) is where their LTE is going to. They're deploying HSPA+ to PCS (1900Mhz) which is already available where I am.
I dont get it.
So they're not doing LTE at all, just the fast HSPA+ that will eventually be compatible with all iphones since the iphone 3G?
I never said that.
T-Mobile:
-2G (GSM/EDGE) = still on 1900Mhz but scaled way down. Has to stay to support dumbphones and international GSM voice roamers.
-3G/4G (HSPA+) = Moving from 1700/2100Mhz AWS to 1900Mhz PCS
-LTE next year = 1700/2100Mhz AWS. Band 4 supported by AT&T's iPhone 5.
So by next year, T-Mobile is gonna have the ultra fast LTE @73mbps, and the fastest HSPA+ @42mbps capable network. That means even if you have to fallback to HSPA+, you'll be blazing fast.
On the contrary, AT&T's LTE is also 73mbps but in some markets (LA, Chicago, Miami, Oklahoma, Raleigh, etc) their LTE is only 37mbps. And the fallback HSPA+ network is only 14.4mbps capable in most markets. In a few markets they have HSPA+ 21mbps. And all that money....
So a lot of conflicting statements going on here. I wish people that didn't know what they were talking about were aware of their ignorance. Would make it a lot easier. I won't be traveling to Asia or Europe anytime soon so I'm mostly concerned with which version would be most versatile int he US. From what I can surmise these are the facts, correct me if I'm wrong and your sure.
Verizon iPhone 5 Works with any US GSM HSPA+ and below
Both versions only work with their own LTE (Verizon having the superior coverage.)
Both work with T-Mobiles growing 4G (Since it's really just HSPA+)
Verizon iPhone can't do simultaneous talk and data even on a GSM sim?
Thus making the Verizon iPhone not only the better choice internationally but also for the US specifically since it can work on AT&T's HSPA+ whereas the AT&T one can't work on Verizon period.
I'll be using it on cheap GSM MNVO's like Straight Talk or T-mobiles $30 4G plan depending on who gets a nano sim first. As I understand it both versions will work equally well on those but if in the future I get sick of spotty coverage and lousy speed I'd prefer Verizon 4G over AT&T.
Is there anything I mentioned that's wrong or any reason why someone should choose the AT&T "device only" version over verizons?
Well I wouldn't compare Verizon's LTE to AT&T's. Verizon is in a league of it's own with 390 markets. AT&T's at 60.Oh, cool.
So it would make sense to get the AT&T i5 and it should work with Tmobiles HSPA+ and LTE bands?
But again how fast will Tmobile start rolling out LTE and how many years it will take to catch up to Verizon and AT&T? Will it be available to most places or a few lucky ones will have it available?
I love Tmobiles prices and customer service.
hey guyz i wanted to ask you this simple question. i live in Pakistan and i want to buy iPhone 5. so which one should i buy? AT&T or Verizon? we dont have LTE/4G here. even no 3G here. but soon i will be planning to travel to UK/USA/Thailand/ so what do you suggest me? AT&T or Verizon? thanks!
ps currently i have iPhone 4s which is a world phone model A1387. and it is running flawlessly here!
If you're not worried about LTE then either one will do. It wont make any difference to you on a 2G network in Pakistan.
Just make sure if you do get the AT&T model it is unlocked.
The Verizon i5 is automaticly unlocked even when not purchased for full price.
Yes i know all this but the question is if i travel to england/thailand/usa/china which one will be better? And if i buy at&t model at full price isnt it supposed to be unlocked? And verizon one will be unlocked at full price though. So which one do you recommend thanks![]()
Lte bands are still all over the place and not that widespread either. No one can say for sure what will work for where.
I'm sure you will be fine with 3G gsm access for a trip.
Buy the model you need for the carrier you plan to use it on.
Okie dokie i think i should go for at&t model then. Thanks
Ps if i buy the verizon model it will work perfectly fine same as at&t model on 2G/3G networks right?
Search for "refarm".I just read on howard forums that both versions of iphone 5 can only get 2G on tmobile.
