So the Verizon 6 iPhone will be unlocked as it was with the Verizon 5S. Weren't people obligated to sign a contract if you purchased the Verizon 5S directly with Apple during the first few weeks? I recall you could only purchased the Verizon phone outright when Apple released the "factory unlocked" version a month after launch.

I was able to purchase the Verizon iPhone 5S in store full price at Apple.

There's a thread on this forum regarding how to get it.

You can preorder a sprint iphone for full price but it still will not be unlocked.
No sprint iphone is ever fully unlocked no matter how or where you buy it.

I know I don't need or want it unlocked, I just wanted to know to know if you could buy one at full price since I don't have an upgrade.

They were allowing full price on launch day when I went. At the Apple store I originally went to it was the nly model they actually had.

I was curious about full price buying through the apple store app (that's where I preorder from) & on the actual apple website I don't see an option for buying a sprint iPhone at full price without an upgrade?

Can;t comment on that one. Sorry. I do know they were offering it in store though. Of that I am certain.

Can I ask why you would want an unlocked iPhone from Sprint when their non-contract plans are so limited?

I'm on Sprint now. My only issue is data - SLOW; VERY SLOW.

Based on what he posted probably the fact that he is on a contract with Sprint, but isn't eligible for an upgrade yet and wants to be able to have the latest iPhone.

isn't the unlocked, full price version you buy from Apple compatible with sprint?

No. AT&T, Verizon and T-Mobile use the same model. Sprint is a separate model. Also, Sprint will not activate any other company's phone on their network. And they won't unlock their phones to use on any other U.S. network.

Yeah, I know about their unlocking policies..lol Sprint. Feel bad for their customers.

Verizon iPhone Unlocked

I purchased a Verizon iPhone 5 and yes it is unlocked, GSM unlocked only. I am now on AT&T and I have access to its GSM and HSPA+ network only, not LTE (which I knew prior). It was a perk since I jumped ship. I believe all Verizon LTE devices are GSM unlocked due to the FCC and the wireless spectrum Verizon uses for LTE.

Would you say 3 years is a good time to upgrade? I have a 4S with Sprint. My 2 yr. contract was fulfilled last year Nov. 2013. I need to get out of Sprint because they don't have similar non-contract plans like T-Mobile and ATT. I don't use data, except when in a WIFI zone. I pay $67 for talk and text basically (as I don't use the unlimited data offered by Sprint). T-Mobile and ATT offer Talk and Text anywhere from $25-$35. As you can see, it cuts my bill down to half. But to do this, I would need an unlocked iPhone 6 on launch day.

I'm basically paying Sprint $67/month, because I prefer to have the 6 over the 5S.

3 years is OUTSTANDING!!! These new plans are DEFINITELY for you!!!

Verizon iphone 6 128 gig delivered on friday 9/19

went into store monday 9/15 and said I wanted iPhone 6 regular no contract (verizon edge plan unlmtd talk txt & 2gb data p/m), they said full price for unit 849.99, i said ok. they would only take 339.99 at that time and were surprised that taxes were accepted for a total of 583.21. the rest will be billed when i activate. they said i need to wait some days and then call and cancel, to save activation fee (i forget what that is) i plan on using the edge plan though, i'm not a heavy user. i think their network and technology is supreme, and the price reasonable_now_. their delivery beat my expectations and i found the sales staff to be great. my goal is really contract free with a fully functional phone (by modern standards). is the activation fee so bad? what would you do?
