No. Texting while driving is dangerous. Talking on the phone while driving is not.

Source? Everything I've seen suggests otherwise. The Mythbusters even covered this in one of their shows and found that it can be quite distracting. So I'd love to know where you're getting this information. Just because hands-free options are legal in most cases does not necessarily imply it's safe.

Does someone know if it will be possible?

On Devices with Touch ID it is possible to unlock to the homescreen without a second press on the home button.
I hope so! Options are wonderful. I know some people enjoy the notifications on the lock screen, but I do not. Just raise to wake while looking at the phone and boom, home screen. I would love that.

Got some stats or data to back that up?

Are you saying you believe they are equally dangerous? I believe it's ok to use some logic here without a double blind peer reviewed study to say that both hands on the wheel and eyes on the road is "safer" (maybe not totally safe) than texting which requires hands off the wheel and eyes off the road. Granted... use siri :)

Especially since I'm sure there are quite a few people who have their important notifications sent to their Apple Watch, so I don't use the notification lock screen on my phone at all.

Maybe not equally, but both dangerous. Why aren’t you using Siri though to make phone calls? No need to touch or look at device.

True, but as I take my phone out, my thumb is on the home button unlocking my phone AS I'm lifting the phone to my face. For my usage, FaceID will be slower. Not a huge deal either way....I'm more concerned about the awkward home button gesture. I would rather have a button.

You still can! Iphone 8/plus :p

Not completely what you want, but I noticed yesterday that swiping is not required now if you react to a notification. For example, there are some notifications on the screen and you look at the phone. They expand to show full content as soon as you are recognized, then tapping any one of them will take you to the app with no swiping required. Pretty slick.

There is a way to open to home screen after face ID unlocks without having to swipe up.

1. Go to settings and general
2. Go to Accessibility
3. Got to assistive touch and turn on toggle.
4. Under custom actions click on single-tap and change to "home"
5. Go to home screen and see a translucent circle in bottom right corner, tap once and your at the home screen without swiping up. and works in any app that you are in as well.
6. Change idle opacity to 15% so you barley can see circle.
7. No more Carpal Tunnel!
