Has anyone seen the keynote for Unreal Fest 2024 in Seattle? From what I quickly saw, it looks like Unreal Engine will allow developers to port games to all platforms including Mac and iPad. If I'm right, wouldn't this be newsworthy on Macrumors? Wouldn't this mean more games on iPadOS and Mac?

While it lowers the barriers to cross-platform development of games, that by itself does not mean more games will come to the iPad/Mac as a result. Developers would still need to commit both personnel and resources to such development, and not all studios will have the resources to allocate to those platforms.

Well I’m not sure what that means. Developers like Epic and others using Unreal Engine have ported games to Macs in the past as a matter of routine haven’t they? Or in the past were there licensing obstacles that have now been removed?

That's not really news, because it's always been the case. The original engine from the mid 90s had support. But support was on and off over the years, coming back with UE4 which was originally released around 10 years ago.
And yes, it wasn't always up to date supporting different version of macOS, so it took some time here and there to add support for the latest version.

Not to change the subject but I guess the big news during that event was they lowered their share of sales through their store. The irony is that Epic complains about the Apple store, yet has their own store. Maybe their beef is the amount that Apple takes on their platform.
